Their first albumn "Signing Off" still holds up very well. Excellent album before they went pop.

Is it weird that their version of "Red Red Wine" makes me go into violent rages? Something about the lead singer's voice makes me want to murder.

shame, they came on strong with their latest "Who You Fighting For". Back to the political roots of their beginning. Of course, Farkers only know the covers..."Red Red Wine", "Here I Am" and "The Way You Do The Things You Do"

Didn't some of their band spend about five years in prison in Sri Lanka for pot?

Worst reggae band of all time. Just godawful. They got booed off the stage when they came to my hometown with The Police on the Synchronicity tour. Sting acted all pissed off about it, but in his heart, he had to know they were a shizty band to begin with.

I came in here to say something akin to this. When this song first came out many many moons ago, I was hanging around a group of girls...and was trying to get into their collective pants. Anywho, they looooooved that song and would play it non-stop. Talk about a test of wills.

I. HATE. THIS. FARKING. BAND.

Oh my gawd. THIS. I hate that farking song with a passion. There are three songs that actually make me angry: "Red red wine", "Don't worry be happy", and "What it's like" (Everlast).

Thank you for the memories.

Damn, how do you do it? Whenever I mention U-boats to women, their eyes glaze over...

The real UB-40.

30 years? Geebus.

I saw Richard Thompson a year or so ago and it struck me that the man has been on tour since the late 60s. I'm glad he seems to still enjoy it and appears to be in good health, but, man, the very idea of touring for almost 40 years is depressing.

He put on a great show, BTW. Like Arlo Guthrie he plays hard and long and doesn't seem to mind encores.

While the band was named after that form, the real UB-40 was launched in 1916, long before the form was devised.

you've been playing for decades and are complaining about MANAGEMENT? Wtfsicles? take charge of your own affairs or get some better management, c'mon

ub40 stunk. always has, always will. from "dream a lie" to "little baggariddm" and onward... poo.

one of the most irritating bands ever. so bland. so unimaginative.

This (pops) is UB40's first single 'Food For Thought' and is full of win. It's a shame that nothing they did after their first album was as good.

I did. Not too difficult when that's the wrong second line.

Fail.

Red, red wine makes me feels so grand
Makes me want to give up my band
Red, red wine makes me feel so sore
Never want to go on another tour
Red, red wine makes me feel so alone
Go ahead and hock my microphone

Everybody!

/always thought the "UB" stood for "unbelievably boring."

their early stuff is awesome.

So what's the best reggae band?

carmody 2008-01-27 06:19:07 PM
Best reggae band? The farking Skatalites, man.

davynelson 2008-01-28 06:47:03 PM
ACTUALLY

their album Signing Off is actually an underrated masterpiece of sorts

and is worth checking out.

I can't stand their radio hits that later brought them their greatest fame,
but that is one fine slab of music.
