Great song. Happy birthday Robin. I'd buy you a drink over in St. Pete if I could and raise a glass to toast the rockin' you've brought to the world.

Cheap Trick put on one of the best live shows I've ever attended.

This. I saw them when KISS cover band Strutter opened up for them. Fantastic.

HOMER: Yeah, hi, Roy. Hey, there having open casting for the voice of Poochie.

LISA: You should try out, Dad. You have a funny voice.

HOMER: I do not!

BART: Haven't you ever listened to yourself on a tape recorder?

HOMER: I prefer to listen to Cheap Trick.

Great post!! Saw Cheap Trick back to back nights in 78. Opened for Aerosmith in a 12000 seat arena then the next night about 100 miles away opened for Head East in a place that held about 1500. Gave their all both nights, been one of my favorites ever since

I'll throw my hat into the "old farts remembering" ring and say that I still turn it way up whenever I hear their music. As an aside, a scientific study showed that Cheap Trick was the top hidden pleasure (musically) of all my early 80's punk rock crew. Our shame was deep and kept us warm at night.

Loves me some Cheap Trick. "In Color" and "Heaven Tonight" are both in my top 20.

My older brother turned me on to Cheap Trick. One of those bands you can put on and everyone likes them.

A lost Rick Nielsen lyric? Good stuff.

So many artists today are heavily influenced by Trick. American Hifi was a Trick tribute band. Bowling for soup calls themselves "Cheap Trick meets Steve Martin on Speed" and Butch walker opens his Live at Budokan DVD with

"Alright Tokyo. Please Welcome Epic Recording artist Butch Walker"

and if you wore out Budokan (the original) multiple times you recognize it.

Love the 'Trick' and their image. Does anybody know if there is a slightly more punked out version of Surrender out there? Saw a live show on VH-1 once and that's what I heard on it. Any recordings to look for?

Is Rick Nielsen trying to be Angus Young with a sweater, like a bad schoolboy from Illinois?

Used to pay $1.50 cover to see them in bars around Milwaukee before they made it big.

Didn't like them then, but in retrospect, they kick it.

Damn, Robin Zander is my age? I'm feeling old all of a sudden.

What about the tunes?

Probably have seen them 2 dozen times. Wish I woulda been around to see them at Humpin' Hannah's, etc. Never seen them mail one in.

Wonder if Zander has ever hit a flat note? Guy's got a great set of pipes.

Agreed, hard not to like Cheap Trick's music. Although Neilsen's mugging got on my nerves in just about every single vid I've seen.

Zander lives next door to my boss. Really nice guy and his kids are normal and respectful too.

I have loved Cheap Trick since they rocked my summers hanging out at the public pool trying to hide my massive erection by clinging to the side of the pool. Cheap Trick owned that summer.

As I grew, I became accustomed to controlling my baser urges and rarely does it occur that I pop wood at the glorious site of some late 70s bikinied thunderbush. On those rare occasions when it happens, cheap trick is the imaginary porno soundtrack coursing through my mind.

Happened again in the early 80s, but this time it was not my fault. That chick at the beginning of She's Tight was too sexy for my immature cravings to withstand. The kick-ass lights at the skating rink probably only exasperated the situation.

Do yourself a favor and seek out the Albini re-recording of "In Color" they did about 10 years ago. It's smokin'
