Sir Alexander Fraser married the sister of King Robert the Bruce and with another Fraser founded the town of Fraserburgh. In the 15th century, Thomas Fraser was granted the lands of Muchall and Stoneywood and originally the castle bore the name of Muchall-in-Mar (until 1695).
In the mid-1570s, Michael Fraser began to create a larger house, which was called initially "Michael's Tower", but it was incomplete when he died at the end of the 1580s. So it was his heir, Andrew Fraser who completed the castle, much as it appears today.
Then
bitteroldman
did a quick and dirty cut and paste and stuck the castle on top of a Roman Ruin for some stupid contest.

I'm not fully convinced the O is Roman. After peaking at the source pages, I think this is an old church from around 1100 to 1300ce.
Best call in the archeologists and make sure.

Hey! I've been to Castle Fraser. Quite small for a castle, but very nice. I liked that visitors have access to the tower roof, very nice view. The Great Hall is also very memorable.

Bullshiat.
I posted in response to a previous post that referenced the history of the building with a specific link to a Wiki article. I complimented the poster!
Of course, THAT post and previous ones asking about the specific building are gone with no notice and I get slapped with a rebuke. I call that cowardly and disingenuous.

Makes soldier field look like a ufo crashed into it. For those who don't know what were talking about, here's a few pics of the new "improved" Soldier Filed.
