Josh Brolin is BS's step-son. We would be her son-in-law if he married Jason Gould, buy Josh is straight and Jason is already married to his boyfriend.

What do you mean? All of Stone's movies were strictly based on facts.

/wishes he would just go away
//and take Babs with him

Complicit [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 08:20:32 PM
Good to see Brolin taking off as an actor. I hope this project doesn't kill that.

Av8rLuvr [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 08:33:22 PM
I have a feeling "Epic Fail" will be conspicuously absent from the movie title.

MorningBreath [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 08:46:04 PM
that would make for one sucky movie, all around. My prediction? $46,000,000 to make, and a $13,000,000 return in the box office.

note to Stone: jiggling the camera does not make it more interesting.

CrotchBeard 2008-01-20 08:49:23 PM
"Goonies II"?

BravadoGT [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 08:57:54 PM
With all these lefty movies doing so well at the box office as of late (e.g., Lions for Lambs, Rendition, The Valley of Elah)I'm sure this one won't be-how did Norm McDonald put it? Oh yeah!

BOX OFFICE POISON.

Churchill2004 [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 09:45:16 PM
I love how he's trying to portray it as an unbiased biopic- a year before the man's even going to leave office. Particularly how he's going to make it all about the intimate details of Bush's life- which he must be planning to pull out his ass.

Bush and Stone can both both go jump off a cliff.

DamnYankees [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 10:43:13 PM
I just want to give Josh Brolin some love. No Country for Old Men was an amazing movie, and he was awesome. If Stone is going to make a hilariously biased movie, he got a good actor.

ErikShocker 2008-01-20 10:46:35 PM
To be fair Bush did some really great things.

/while he was in college
//I'm talking about partying here
///that was the only thing he was good at
////no seriously, dude sucked at everything else, especially being POTUS
/wait no, he was also good at using REALLY STRANGE and CHANGING logic, a thing I like to call "Real-Time Bush-Logic" which changes as the situation changes and still doesn't make a ton of sense when looking at the big picture

Dorf11 2008-01-20 10:47:38 PM

The scenes where he deserts from the National Guard, and the later scenes where his father's people have the records purged, will be controversial to say the least.

Erik Shocker: To be fair Bush did some really great things.

One of things Bush did when he was in Yale was...

THE ENTIRE FOOTBALL TEAM.

/Google "Victor Ashe" his openly gay room-mate, later rewarded with an ambassadorship to Poland.

//Google "Leola McConnell", one time dominatrix who ran fer office as a Dem and is now mysteriously "missing"

///NOT Kidding.

Tanqueray 2008-01-20 11:05:32 PM
With OS directing, I'm thinking this movie could cover any of the following:

1. The initiation into Skull & Bones
2. His whereabouts On July 16-18, 1999
3. His relationship with "Turd Blossom"
4. The big secret energy summit
5. The pretzel incident
6. Leaking Valerie Plame
7. The "Cheney shoots his lawyer" crisis

authenticryan 2008-01-20 11:07:11 PM
I love how Stone refuses to give his personal assessment of Bush as a person because that would sully his neccessary appearance of impartiality, than refers to Bush as "an alcoholic bum" in the very next quote.

WFern 2008-01-20 11:20:22 PM
Brolin was gold in No Country for Old Men. That alone has my support.

And let's face it - Stone may be a little fringe, but he makes damn fine films.

galactus5000 2008-01-20 11:24:09 PM
Thanks to No Country For Old Men, I think I finally realised that Josh Brolin is one of my favourite actors.

JQPublic [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 11:29:56 PM

Here is some of the sample dialogue.

VP Cheney: "Mr. President you can't fly remote control jet planes into the World Trade Center. It'll kill thousdands."

[Slaps the VP]

Pres. Bush: "Shaddap Cheney, I know what I'm doing. You are either with me or with Bin Laden."

Karl Rove: "We can't torture people, Mr. President."

[Slaps Rove]

Pres. Bush: "Shadddap Karl, I do what I want. You just fix elections for me."

etc, etc.

ToxicMunkee [TotalFark] 2008-01-20 11:34:21 PM
Huh. Sounds boring.

Swampthing in Korea 2008-01-20 11:34:52 PM
Never been one to watch Oliver Stone movies.

The only movie I really watched was Alexander, which sucked complete donkey balls.

1st, his decision to chronologically jump round really farked up the story telling aspect.

2nd: Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie??? Wtf?

3rd: Trying to fit Alexanders life into one movie caused him to neglect the importance of early events.

4th: Colin Farrell and Angelina Jolie??? Wtf?

5th: The Bi-sexual/gay parts. They contributed nothing to the story and had no relevance besides an attempt to throw something "topical" into the mix.

Maybe it will be.

"Nixon" was surprisingly sympathetic.
"World Trade Center" was praised by the conservative press, as it focused on the heroism and faith of its main characters, with no politics at all.

Hopefully it won't be.

LiveFromLasVegas 2008-01-20 11:44:47 PM
Gee, I hope they don't make Bush look like, you know, a total idiot in every possible way, or something.

That would make his supporters feel like nitwits.

You know, for voting for him, and all.

Twice.

Except that Alexander the Great had sexual relationships with men. I didn't care for the film myself, but you're wrong if you think it had no place.

Of, I never denied that.

I said that the way it was included in the movie did not fit, and just seemed tacked on.

But if Alexander had been a woman, then the bisexual scenes would have been fine, right?

Lord, I hope you're kidding.

Platoon

The Doors
JFK
Natural Born Killers
Nixon
World Trade Center

etc.

There are at least two possible outcomes:

1. Good
2. Bad

I'm going with Number Three:

Who Gives a S*it?

Whatsleft 2008-01-21 01:11:32 AM
Wow, that's tough. Who do I hate more? George W. Bush or Oliver Stone?

/Endless war vs. Alexander... it's not a straight forward choice

Millzners 2008-01-21 01:14:15 AM
Alexander was THE worst movie I have ever seen, when you consider the budget. I, to this day, am stupified by how aweful that movie was. I can't wait to see a trainwreck of a movie about a trainwreck of a president.

Ehh, I never bothered seeing any of Stone's other movies, and I sometimes feel like we've been living inside a movie about Bush this decade.. very unlikely I'll see it.

Anagrammer is right in the last time he did a movie that was any good was in the early 90s and that was JFK. IMO, he ruined a great Tarantino script with NBK (Tarantino feels the same way) and his most recent efforts - World Trade Center and Alexander sucked donkey balls. Once upon a time, he was great. He wrote the screenplay for Scarface. He directed Wall Street, Platoon, and JFK. Maybe his advancing age is taking it's toll on his creativity, or maybe the extreme wealth has caused him to lose his fire (you put more into it if you know you can't make mortgage payments in the event of a flop), I don't know the reason why, I just know that just about everything he put out in the last 17 years* has been craptastic.

* Any Given Sunday wasn't bad. Not a great movie, but entertaining.
