What with this PR disaster, talk of Britney joining, and the ongoing DOS attack on their website, this hasn't been a good week for Scientology.
Xenu is cackling indeed.

I sometimes wonder if Hollywood is uniquely susceptible to cults and faddishness, or if they're representative of the population at large and are just more noticeable.

Actors are so smart. Especially short ugly ones. We should hang on their every word.

We can only hope it takes the other route:

"The EPA came out and said the air was clean. Of course, as a Scientologist you go, that's a lie. Outright lie. Liar. Fine."

"A Scientologist is somebody who can look at the world and really see it for what it is. And not just see it but be able to go 'pow' and actually do something about it. And be somebody who is not asking permission to do that. Why ask permission? We are the authorities."

ok i always thought scientology was a little weird, but they have always seemed mostly harmless. until now. if tom's statements reflect the way all scientologists feel then we all need to look out. i'm cool with them seeing the world for what it really is, but believing that they have the authority to intervene and take any kind of action at all is ridiculous.

TFA doesn't give the whole story. did the scientologists present themselves to 911 workers as being sent by the government? or did they merely show up and offer free aid to anyone who wanted it?

It would be easy to de-fund Scientology by boycotting films produced, directed and starring its adherents. It's too bad that would probably mean the collapse of 60% of the Hollywood film industry, but, hey, it's not like they're producing anything worth seeing anyway.

Isn't what Guilliani did what any Mayor would have done in a time of crisis? I never understood the whole "Oh he's a hero" crap. The real heros where the people of NYC.

See that's my my favorite part. I mean, Tom used his mind-bullets to clean the invisible air germs, thus saving the day in a completely unverifiable way.

You know what, I used my mind powers to stop an invisible Texas-sized asteroid from destroying the Earth this morning. And... wow, I just did it again! You all owe me big time! Luckily, I accept cash.

The New York Fireman clip is Here (new window). It's not the first video on the page, but the second one down. It says under it "Tom Cruise rescued America after 9/11. He saved all the firefighters with 9/11 cough! And he didn't ask permission"

Yes. They're not dumb, they realized the first-response workers were going to get lots of settlement money. They don't recruit the poor.

barstool5000: Rudy 9ui11iani did nothing but grandstand and see an opportunity on that fateful day. Finally, Americans are starting to see him for what he really is: teh dumbazz.

No he did a lot more than that. He put his command and control HQ on a high floor right next to where the number 1 terrorist target in the nation was, even though he was repeatedly told by officials NOT to put it there. This made the entire building come down because of all the fuel they had to put there so that the elevators would work if the power ran out.

Basically his stupidity lead to the blowing up of the cities command and control emergency center so that he had to walk around the streets during it because he had no where else to go.

Basically he is trying to get Kudos for something he 100% screwed up. So, I am not sure why he is not winning in a land slide for the Republicans. They usually seem to like that in a president.

SoxSweepAgain 2008-01-20 11:24:10 AM
Giuliani is disliked in NYC now. The firefighters union didn't just not invite him to their 4-year candidate dinner, they told him not to come!

Giuliani is filthy. He's knee-deep in the scandal of 9/11 and was instrumental in making sure that the site was scooped and dumped and shipped off to China before structural engineers and reporters could take a good look at the causes of the buildings' collapses, particularly the never-explained Building 7.

Giuliani is a criminal piece of filth.

Now the Guiliani "OMG 9/11" BS makes sense despite my never hearing him mention it on the campaign trail. It's Troofers.

It's not "truthers" we are talking about one building. The building he made as the command and control for the city. This is based on facts no one disputes. Except Rudy wants to keep quiet. They are not saying planes didn't crash into the two towers and take them down.

You should really know what building 7 is before you just react and attack someone about subject you seem to be unfamiliar with.

Building 7 is not the the two towers.

Shh! Everybody don't say bad things about Scientology, or they might go "pew" and detoxify us, without permission!

Or else they'll try to sue our pants off (how does that sound to you Tom Cruise? My pants off? I'll hang them in the closet for you and everything).

Or else they'll beat up your dog and kidnap your niece until you stop saying all the mean things. That's also what they do - with their amazing powers and lack of permission - to SPs and other jerk poopieheads (JPHs) like you.

drxym 2008-01-20 11:35:43 AM

But wait, Mr. Cruise. All that work-out music and the urgent-sounding man with the pleasant, deep narration have convinced me. How can I KNOW what you KNOW? I too want to go 'pew' with my mind!
