Votes or precincts? There's somewhat of a difference.

Interesting, if he hadn't become a huge BushCo schill after he crashed
in 2000 he'd easily be my favorite of the gop frontrunners.

Gonna be hard to beat someone who has the Colbert bump
and God on his side though.

McCain got 1/3 of the vote. I don't think you can make that statement quite yet; it's hardly a mandate on McCain.

you know, it'd be nice if the least insane republican would win the nomination.

the problem is figuring out which one (of the ones running) that would be.

Did you have to play the mythical race card?

Does this mean that Thompson will finally go away? Please?

mama's_tasty_foods 2008-01-19 09:57:01 PM
My main problem with McCain is that he's too old.

On the Democratic side I was disappointed that Hillary "won" Nevada (though Obama ended up with more delegates than she did); the Clintons seem so desperate they will say and do anything to win- unlike Obama who seems to have some integrity.

I have not been happy with the pool of presidential candidates for 08 in general; but the candidates on the Republican side, I thought, have been and continue to be abysmal.

Gyrfalcon [TotalFark] 2008-01-19 09:58:47 PM
You can cut the apathy with a knife....

Or McCain's throat, for that matter. Are there any VC left from the old days?

Precincts. Damn, I'm a dumbass tonight. I'm glad McCain won, though. Now if only Zombie Sam the Butcher were running. I'd

Did Al Gore invent the Internet? I could go on all night. And I'm not implying that the push polling never happened.

Would he have won it though if the people had known he had an illegitimate black child? Would that change your opinion of him if you knew that?

at least McCain is against torture. Romney has to check an opinion poll before answering a question

I think you're in the wrong thread. Edwards is a Democrat and this is about a Republican primary.

/He'll be in it for a few more rounds, I bet.

Uh, McCain was hardly a "BushCo schill" after 2000.

In May 2001, McCain voted against the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001,[128] President Bush's $350 billion in tax breaks over 11 years, which became known as "the Bush tax cuts". He was one of only two Republicans to do so,[129] arguing that he would support the tax cut plan if they were tied to subsequent decreases in spending.[128] McCain similarly voted against the Jobs and Growth Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2003, the second round of Bush tax cuts which served to extend and accelerate the first, saying it was unwise at a time of war.[128]

McCain accused the "Swift Boat" campaign against Kerry of being "dishonest and dishonorable."[136]

-- from Wikipedia

It was only really 2004 and afterward that he started sucking up to Bush in order to build up support for his 2008 bid. I don't like it either, but that's politics. And I think McCain is overall a decent guy, or at least the best out of the current Republican candidates. At the very least he doesn't farking endorse torturing people.

This would be somewhat exciting if 2000 McCain were running. However, this is 2008 McCain.

/President Hillary is going to be... not good.

Alphax 2008-01-19 10:03:54 PM
Well, McCain DOES have a few good principals. Too bad he ignores them when they get in the way.
