Aaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahaha!

Maybe if Mexico's job market didn't suck arse so much, they wouldn't be coming here ILLEGALLY.

"My country has no jobs, so we're sending our citizens to your country illegally to earn tax-free money. What? You have a problem with that? Crap..."

Start the legal/illegal flamewar in 3....2.....1....

I hope they didn't rip up their clothes while crossing the border...

this statement is full of fail. they are your citizens. you deal with them. can't handle it? too bad. not the US's problem.

Actually, many of these immigrants get jobs with fake social security cards. They get withholdings for income tax, social security, and medicare just like everyone else...except they don't receive SS or medicare benifits.

They need to also ammend the constitution to make children born of mothers here illegally, non-citizens, while we kick the rest of the illegals out. If not, tell china too send us a billion or so of it's poorest, that would do wonders for our economy. Personally, I wouldn't doubt it if states try and secede, and California tries to join Mexico.

What you said is fact. Many cases of stolen identities lead to illegal immigrants. I'll find the report if anyone wants it, but give google a shot. I'm headin out soon with my g/f, so won't have time to participate in this discussion.

Life is tough. Maybe everyone who is so upset about the "illegals" should just take some personal responsibility for their lives and improve themselves, rather than asking the government to solve their problems by exterminating 12 million people.

"How can they pass a law like this?" asked Mexican Rep. Leticia Amparano Gamez, who represents Nogales.

"There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona," she said in Spanish.

"Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems" it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs, she said.

My life is fine. House, 2 cars, college edumacation, and taking a couple trips this year, one on Sunday. Tell me, how should I take personal responsibility for people being here illegally because their own country sucks arse?

What a bunch of whiny biatches.

If Mexico really wants their employment problem fixed, they should see what kind incentives they can come up with to encourage more businesses in other countries to look to Mexico for outsourcing.

Complaining that US is making it hard for Mexico to avoid dealing with their own problems isn't gonna win sympathy from anyone.

implementor 2008-01-19 05:28:50 PM
LocalCynic,

Who is asking that they be exterminated? Is it too much to ask that they not be in this country illegally, and to prevent them from legally working if they are?

Who peed in your cornflakes? No one wants to exterminate 12 million people. They want 12 million people to quit breaking the law, and work in Mexico until such time as they stand in line like the potential immigrants from every other country. Why does Mexico alone get a free pass for exporting its social problems to the US?

This is, effectively, a group of politicians admitting that things aren't working back home, and that they have no clue how to make them work. Well, you're the legislators, right? You can make those "law" things that regulate business, give incentives, and things like that?

One state CAN change things when the economy there is so bad. Mexico needs a strong reform party ASAP, like five years ago.

As an American man with a wife from Sonora, I am getting a kick out of .....

Really, we outsourced jobs to Sonora (maquilas) for years. We encouraged many people to move from the interior of Mexico to Sonora to get jobs. Now those jobs are going to China. What do they do?

I'm just saying we brought this on ourselves.

All you Farkers above are forgetting one major thing.

It is true that individually, American citizens are not responsible in any way for the flood of Mexicans crossing your southern border.

However, there is not a shadow of a doubt that the United States Government IS responsible for this.

Ever since the North American Free Trade Agreement was signed, the following has happened (extracts from http://www.commondreams.org/views06/0425-30.htm)

"NAFTA, by permitting heavily-subsidized US corn and other agri-business products to compete with small Mexican farmers, has driven the Mexican farmer off the land due to low-priced imports of US corn and other agricultural products. Some 2 million Mexicans have been forced out of agriculture, and many of those that remain are living in desperate poverty. These people are among those that cross the border to feed their families. (Meanwhile, corn-based tortilla prices climbed by 50%. No wonder many so Mexican peasants have called NAFTA their 'death warrant.'"

"NAFTA's service-sector rules allowed big firms like Wal-Mart to enter the Mexican market and, selling low-priced goods made by ultra-cheap labor in China, to displace locally-based shoe, toy, and candy firms. An estimated 28,000 small and medium-sized Mexican businesses have been eliminated."

"Wages along the Mexican border have actually been driven down by about 25% since NAFTA, reported a Carnegie Endowment study. An over-supply of workers, combined with the crushing of union organizing drives as government policy, has resulted in sweatshop pay running sweatshops along the border where wages typically run 60 cents to $1 an hour."

And you Americans blame the individuals who illegally enter your country for the problem!

You would do much better blaming your own corrupt government.

If you want to stem the tide of Mexicans, lobby your Congressmen to reverse and abandon the NAFTA Treaty. If Mexicans did not have to compete with the corrupt and inhumane practices of "free trade" then many Mexicans would be gainfully employed in Mexico in well paying jobs and would not be invading your country.

///Yes, in case you are wondering, this IS a Bush-bashing comment...

Here's $0.50. Call some one who cares.

Mexico has been exporting its' problems, via illegal immigration, to the US for DECADES.

What the we need to do is to treat these illegals the same way Mexico treats the ones coming up on its southern borders: with military force.

Mexico is a shiat-hole with draconian laws against immigrants, legal and illegal; go down there and try and start a business or get into politics; you can't because you're not a citizen.

Fark them.

letrole: The problem with mexico is twofold. First, they're losing their best and brightest to illegal immigration. Second, those grunting dirty people prowling the automotive section of Wal-Mart were the best and brightest of mexico.

the best and brightest of mexico usually stay put or immigrate legally. only the poorest of the poor w/ no education immigrate illegally b/c they have no prospects in mexico.

now if there was only some sort of economic model where a nation decided to educate their poor and uneducated populace and turn it into an economic powerhouse....(south korea, tawain et al)

I live in Tucson, so I'm really getting a kick out of these replies...

But seriously, the employers are taking this opportunity to lay off the older, more highly-paid illegals and hiring newer, lesser-paid illegals. The fact of the matter is, many businesses down here have gotten by only because of the cheap, illegal labor. Without it, many are going to go out of business.

Your taxes pay for the corn subsidies that are driving many Mexicans out of jobs.

///You ARE paying for them to come here!!!

Enemabag Jones 2008-01-19 06:06:16 PM
Mexicans crossing the border has been happening forever. Same thing happened with Europeans before, second generations learn English, life continues on.

What bothers me is Mexico seemed to do a pretty good job protecting it's southern borders against immigrants from Guatemala and keep on a lookout for them in Mexico. Why is the US morally required to employ Mexicans? Why should the US not control what happens on it's side of the fence?

Just look at your own actions before you biatch.

Cat With Two Heads 2008-01-19 06:06:40 PM
MoeSzyslak: So it is the responsibility of the US to provide the mexican people jobs in Mexico?

Well, yeah. It's partially our fault that Mexico's main industries are petroleum and tourism. We're the biggest market in the world, and we're right next door. Our capital dictates Mexican economic and political decisions. If we used that power to help the Mexican poor, they're less likely to travel thousands of miles for $3/hr jobs.

That's funny. Mexico was only corrupt after NAFTA. BEfore, it was the bastion of civility, common sense, and enjoyed 3% unemployment.

///Yes, in case you are wondering, this IS a Bush-bashing comment...

Gee...I wonder who was president when NAFTA was signed. Let us think on that a little...
