Yeah, but we might get a check for a couple of hundred bucks thanks to Bush! Hooray! That will fix the economy.

I'd rather see us elect a slate of 3 party candidates. I really don't care WHICH third party gets elected either (although I do have my preferences).

Electing more of the same over and over and over again will only get us more of the same. Do you really think that any of these partsian hacks is going to make a difference? Because I think that once they get to D.C. they're going to do whatever it takes to STAY inside the beltway and not pay any attention to the people that sent them there.

Doesn't matter what party is in control, politians, from either party, will sell you to the devil if they thought they could get $.02 out of the deal. You are only fooling yourself if you think they are serving your best interest. So by all means, go out and vote for the liar who most appeals to you.

AirForceVet: Meh. Lucky Democrats. They may capture the Congress and the White House in 2008, but it'll take decades to fix the mess Bush and the Republicans left behind.

I'm gonna have to point something out on this one. They were given the majorities they needed to pass legislation in the last election because they ran on a rather large platform of things they were going to get DONE if they were put into power in the house. THe list of those things which actually got done however, is a different story.

Adding to their majority isn't going to change it that much. And if they controlled the pork they could get things past the president. Instead what we will hear now is "well we couldn't do anything with a Republican president.. give us a Democratic one!" which is in stark contrast to the promises of "big changes once we have both houses of congress."

The fact is neither party is affecting much change one way or the other.

My suggestion to change things would be simple. Remove ALL references to party from ballots so that people have to know who they are voting for, not just what party an individual is in. This means no "vote straight party ticket". Also, set one standard that a candidate must pass to get on the presidential ballot in all 50 states.

I do not welcome our new Democrat overlords because they are moving Liberalism so far left it is rapidly approaching Fascism. Where did the Old School democrats go? Here's to Woodrow Wilson, the first Socialist president of the united states, who single-handedly corrupted the Democratic party into socialist liberals.

No, I don't need government telling me what's good for me and what's not. No, I do NOT want to learn to speak NewSpeak 5.0.

I miss the old school democrats. But since they're now extinct, I vote Republican. I vote Guiliani.

thamike 2008-01-19 01:33:11 PM
Fascism is an authoritarian political ideology (generally tied to a mass movement) that considers the individual subordinate to the interests of the state, party or society as a whole. Fascists seek to forge a type of national unity, usually based on (but not limited to) ethnic, cultural, racial, religious attributes. The key attribute is intolerance of others: other religions, languages, political views, economic systems, cultural practices, etc. Various scholars attribute different characteristics to fascism, but the following elements are usually seen as its integral parts: nationalism, statism, militarism, totalitarianism, anti-communism, corporatism, populism, collectivism, and opposition to political and economic liberalism.[wiki]

You might want to look up the definition of Fascism again and check out where it falls on the political compass. I'll give you a clue. If you keep looking left you're doing it wrong.

fascism - A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism.

I don't want both the white house and the congress to be the same party. Republicans or democrats, we've all seen how well that works out.

A 50/50 congressional split is most ideal, because no matter who occupies the white house, senators will act like petulant children and nothing will get done, which is the best possible outcome for this country.

Yer farkin' kidding with that right?

The Neo-Con-Artists have slid the country closer to facism than it's ever been in it's entire history but it's really the Dems who are moving "so far left"?

Clue to Jaedreth: There's NO left left in the Democratic party with the exception of Dennis Kucinich.

The Neo-Con-Artists have moved the country so far to the right that you can't even see left from where you are standing right now w/o a pair of really strong binoculars.

The Reps have privitised the military and outsourced spying on the American people, lied their way into a war which benefits BigOil and is destroying the America's economy and reputation but the real problem is the Dems according to you?!

Ummm... last I looked, it took 60 to get legislation through the Senate. Democrats have 51 seats. According to some sources, the Republicans in the senate have filibustered a record 62 times in the 110th congress.

Plus, the Deomcrats would need a two thirds majority to override a veto.

The CIA assumes consent is implied and acts accordingly.
