Game over, man. Game over!

I'd say it never really started...

My guess is Fred is more concerned about his next bowel movement then whether or not he becomes president, anyway.

And we don't have to endure his folksy BS on "Law & Order" any more, either. Win!

but he could solve all the country's problems in neat little 1 hour episodes, and then throw in one line of insightful wisdom at the end. win!

He took a dump without a plan? Jack Ryan will be very upset when he hears this.

I hope the Chemo isn't taking too much of a toll on him. He'll be in my prayers.

So you need to be more than just and actor to be a republican... interesting.

Yeah like a lawyer and a senator but more importantly a human being that can write in complete and coherent sentences.

You must be one of those liberals who hates on thespians and hippie beaters. Shame.

It might also be helpful if during your campaign, you act like you might actually want to be President, and you don't act annoyed to be there, like you're pissed all this campaigning is keeping you off the golf course.

Rolander 2008-01-19 11:25:23 AM
It's pretty much over for the republican party, the two front runners are democrats.

LargeCanine 2008-01-19 11:25:58 AM
We haven't started yet. Iowa and New Hampshire are trivial. Michigan was an open ballot and therefore unrelibable. South Carolina is the first real contest. Its too early to talk about winners and losers and who has to drop out.

Pundits really do need to get over themselves.

Right, because nothing's going to happen in the next 9 months.

What you don't seem to understand is that Thompson has had a sweet little plan from the beginning. He is going to get selected as the much needed conservative V.P. and then wait for the Democrats to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Once that happens all he has to do is pull an LBJ and bing bang boom he is president. That my friends is how the game is played.

Has Jeri "Cans" Thompson given up her dreams of becoming First Floozie already and given Fred "1/2 Dead" Thompson permission to drop out?

Prolly fer the best really, between taking naps, schtupping his trophy gal and shaking off his hangovers that guy woulda had more down time than Dumbya "Permanent Vacation" Bush.

Freeper_Madness: There isn't a word in that 'article' that makes any sense.

Yer reading it upside down again.

rush_limbaugh_sent_me: I live in SC, and almost every Republican that I know is voting for Fred Thompson. I think he will come in at least 2nd. McCain may win but that is only because there is so many candidates still in play.

Rush just endorsed Romney, which is going to crush Fred. Sorry, Freepers, just give up and move on.

McCain may win but that is only because there is so many candidates still in play. If there was a run-off between McCain and Thompson, Thompson would easily win, just as Bush easily beat McCain here in 2000. Amnesty for illegal immigrants isn't popular in SC, and McCain pushed that effort. Tax cuts are also important to Republicans in SC, and McCain opposed those.

I like Thompson. South Carolina is the first real test. I hope your observations are indicative.

Actually no he has not, he has been touting that there are only 2 conservatives in the race. Mitt and one other, guess who the other one he mentions.

I have donated to Thompson's campaign and even if he comes in a distant 3rd and stays in it I will probably donate more. The 3rd would kill his chances but like Joe and his friends state, Fred will peal off votes for Huck. The chance to kill Huck's prospects is reason enough to support Fred.

You must be one of the only people. Fred's fundraising has been pathetic. His faux federalism isn't getting him anywhere, either. You can't be a federalist and say that you think states can't regulate firearms. A federalist would point out that a state who regulates its citizens in moronic or oppressive ways risks losing those citizens to other states, and that state risks getting its incumbents booted by an enraged public. That pressure would force the states to implement sound policy. But it doesn't justify the federal courts ordering states to not regulate guns or much anything else.

Of course, Fred wouldn't say that because it's not politically correct.

Kiss of death for Fred.

Thompson's campaign has been toast since he straddled the fence for so long before officially entering.

isnt it like 1130 in the morning in Nevada?

They're projecting a Romney win, which makes sense. Nevada was founded by Mormons and has a huge Mormon population. It's right next to Utah. There's no way he can lose.

That, and the fact that nobody else campaigned there.

The other major GOP candidates, busy in South Carolina and Florida, did not contest Nevada. Anti-war Rep. Ron Paul campaigned here, and Romney flew in last week to solidify prospects buoyed by several newspaper endorsements and a base of fellow Mormons.

He's got to be one of the worst, most ill-prepared candidates I've ever seen.

It always looks like he just woke up from a nap 3 minutes earlier. Stumbling and bumbling around.

Thrag 2008-01-19 01:42:00 PM
What is there to like about Fred in the first place? Even if people just see him as his law and order character, what is there to like about that character? The character is a hack who talks principles right before giving into political pressure. His DA character was a totally spineless political tool with zero redeeming qualities.
