The Chinese should just download their roads off bittorent and save a bunch of money.

I've actually heard this one. I thought it already was sidewalk material.

I'm not sure Robbie's voice goes well with all those detuned, jangly guitars.

Shame about that last album. Mr.Williams really is a major talent, but his A1 songwriter was AWOL for the last two discs and as a result they didn't really hit the mark.

Apparently Mr.Chambers will be back to provide the tunes next time out, so I'm hoping it's as great as "Sing When You're Winning" or "I've Been Expecting You".

FTA: The 17-track CD sold just 500,000 copies in the UK, a massive disappointment following the two million sales of his previous album Escapology. "It's the ultimate kick in the teeth for him. He loved this album, but going by all the unsold CDs he was obviously the only one.

The ONLY one? 500,000 copies would please 99.99% of people. If it takes mroe to break even, no wonder EMI are going down the loo.

Every time I read Fark articles about this guy I think to myself "Robin Williams made a music CD? WTF?"

The I see it says Robbie Williams. It has happened to me about 4 times now.

It would have been an ever better story if the CDs used were Smashing Pumpkins and Stone Temple Pilots.

He's huge in France, a couple of his songs are in French even. I don't have a strong opinion on the ink itself, but at least he knows the language. Not like the majority of American kids with horribly translated chinese characters that have no idea what they mean.

haha Robbie Williams is old to begin so they just threw him out.

Isn't it supposed to be "chaqu'un"? Or is that a Quebec thing?

Meanwhile, EMI's new boss Guy Hands yesterday denied that the Angels singer is on strike in protest over the job losses.

No wai!

I couldn't believe it when his record company paid him 50 mil or whatever a while back.

I mean, just the fact that the music industry itself is collapsing might have been a sign not to pay such lavish upfront sums anymore.

Bill_Wick's_Friend: The Chinese should just download their roads off bittorent and save a bunch of money.

I laughed.

TFA:Since last year Robbie, who admitted piling on the pounds eating mince pies over Christmas, has well and truly slipped out of the limelight.

Mince pies? I don't see it. The first mince pie of the season is wonderful, delicious. The second one, about halfway through that is when I realise that I've had quite enough, and don't need to bother with them again for another year.

Me too, man. Me too. Of course, me talking about Robin Williams... it's almost becoming cliche, isn't it? Right now there's some Farker at home going "Oh shiat, is Lurkerbunny going to make another farking Robin Williams joke?".

Actually, I do too. I'm also keen on the metric system, but it's fark so I instinctively hate on everything posted.

Exactly how many CDs did EMI manufacture? If he sold 1/2 million there must have been extreme overproduction. Looks to be more an EMI than a RW problem.

Most bands would sacrifice their drummer for sales of 500k.

vdantev 2008-01-19 09:47:15 PM
Could be an answer to our fuel and metal problem. Any CDs printed that sell less than a few thousand copies can be yanked off the market and recycled as petroleum and aluminum.

ballistic123 Isn't it supposed to be "chaqu'un"? Or is that a Quebec thing?

It's "chacun". Quebequois French is almost as different from French as spoken in France as American English is to British English.

A friend of mine used to work as a flight attendant on puddle jumper BA flights. She said Robbie was on one of the flights and was a complete nobjockey - literally snapping his fingers if he wanted service and getting arsey that other people were seated near him in first class. Still, even she thinks he's hot.
