July 22nd - Atlanta, GA

I'm so there.

Maybe June 15th in Boston, too, since I may be in the area.

I love this band

But....this is a weird record. Four great songs - I think Faithless is the best Rush song in maybe 20 years - but I don't like most of the record.

They always deliver live, though.

I think I may have to make a trip out to Milwaukee for Summerfest to combine my passion for fried dairy stuffs and Canadian power trios. I'll definitely go to the DC concert as well.

Snakes And Arrows definitely needed time to grow on me. I was hoping for more of the aggressiveness from Vapor Trails, and after Far Cry the album went a little mellow. But after listening to it a few times (and seeing them play the songs live on the last leg of this tour), the songs grew on me. The Main Monkey Business is probably the best instrumental they've ever done next to YYZ.

I saw them at the Giant Center a couple of years back for the VT Tour. It was least great Rush concert I saw. The place was kinda empty because the weather was absolutely horrible. I don't think the guys were inspired that night. I really don't think they can top the MSG concert from last September.

Here's to hoping they play We Hold On in this next leg.

being a Rush fan I am guessing you would enjoy that to much.

Cream was a better power trio then rush could ever hope to be.

Definitely. Quite possibly my favorite song from the album.

Don't like Rush, but I like a lot of their songs, and their new album is good, except for some of the usual crap. I'll probably go to the June 9th show so I can say I've seen them.

I was there for that show too - 10th row. I thought it was good - people around me were into it. I do remember the weather sucked - rainy as hell.

Seattle WA The Gorge Amphiteatre

Uh, the Gorge Amp is about 150 miles east of Seattle. Hopefully no one flies into Seattle thinking they will see them there.

I'll be at the Portland show (the Clark County Amp is actually in Vancouver WA though. Farking Promoters)

July 9th Toronto, ON The Molson Amphitheatre

I'm so there!

That's the first place I saw Rush back during their 30th anniversary tour. Great venue that I wish had more of a lake view (it's on Lake Ontario)

I really liked their intro from the 30th where they had pictures from the 70's to the late 90's shown on the screen as they did an instrumental retrospective of like 20 songs.

They usually go album/tour/album/tour. I guess we shouldnt expect a new album for a couple of years....

What the hell is that and where in the hell is it?

It's not Lakewood. It's a brand new venue. It's not even open yet - it's open on May and it's up in Alpharetta near 400. It's going to be the new home of the Atlanta Symphony when it opens.

Makes sense the Atlanta symphony is now playing 35 miles outside Atlanta, too bad the braves, falcons, hawks didnt do that since no one wants to go downtown.

What exactly is it about Rush that evokes such a response? It seems like most of Fark likes Rush, but those who don't hate them with a passion. Any reason?

Do you folks miss your ability to comprehend and enjoy good music?

I would, too, if my eardrums were destroyed by the cacophonous drivel of Rush songs.

ral315: It seems like most of Fark likes Rush, but those who don't hate them with a passion. Any reason?

Every time a Rush song is played, rock music dies a little.

ral315: What exactly is it about Rush that evokes such a response? It seems like most of Fark likes Rush, but those who don't hate them with a passion. Any reason?

Well, I can't speak for everyone, but Rush is ultimately one of those love-em-or-hate-em deals. Haters will say they may not like Geddy's higher-registered vocals, or that the band has "no soul" (I'm still trying to wrap my head around what that means, exactly). But I think the people who love them will usually point to their incredible musicianship skills (all three of them are considered top in their respective instruments), and their lyrics... well, it depends. Their earlier work, when they were younger, were definitely inspired by sci-fi and fantasy, and yes it might be something someone who plays D&D listens to. But on their newer albums, they really branch into some topical issues.

It's deep music, but not immediately accessible. Once it clicks, though, you see just how well everything comes together - the lyrics, the music, the messages they try to get across - and it's just beautiful stuff.

And it rocks, too.

Cause they like to think they are cool, when they know they just cant grasp good rock music, its nice that those bashing never post their music tastes. Most of them are into punk rock who hate anything perceived to be mainstream rock, when 90% of punk rock sucks.

Yeah their earlier music was out there and the lyrics kinda sucked but the music is excellent.

Also YYZ is probably the greatest rock instrumental. EVER.

I went to their last show in Indy and Verizon Ampitheather sucks, but the show was great. I might just go to Chicago this time.

Because by now you're well-accustomed to people having better taste than you? Besides, I'm Canadian so the pain of Rush is even harder to endure, much like Nickelback or Celine Dion. At least Rush were on Trailer Park Boys, I'll give them that much, but they didn't even pay Ricky for the dope.

/ Except Rush does suck, and their lead singer is a lesbian of Tedy Bruschi-esque proportions.

Coming back to Denver June 5, to play Red Rocks.

Huh! Missed them the first time around... dunno if I can muster the ambition to get tickets this time, but I'll consider it. I kind of prefer the smaller acts playing the smaller venues on E. Colfax these days. A little tired of the arena scene, needing binoculars to see the band.

So by your definition Hannah Montana is a better muscian because she can sell more seats and albums then Rush.
