I take no position either way on the merits, but I would note that voting in a party caucus is quite different from voting in a general election.

I especially trust the New York Times on this issue, they would have loved nothing more then the reverse to be true.

If Al would have pulled his home state, he wouldn't have needed Florida. Even Mondale held his own state against Reagan.

Here's how the argument has been going so far in Georgia:

Dems: Judge, requiring voters to have ID will keep poor people and old people who don't have IDs from voting.

GOP: Judge, we'll GIVE them FREE IDs. We'll even go to their homes, drive them to get the free ID, and then take them back.

Dems: It's racist! It's unfair! And it's racist.

Why would they need to? It's a specious argument. How much funding would it really take? There's probably more money allocated in the Georgia budget for teaching inner-city girls how to braid their hair...

Do you really think there are these hordes of poor people who really want to vote, but don't have any ID because they're short $20 bucks and a ride.....Come on. Put your grown-up pants on. The Dems don't want voters to have to prove that they are who they say they are, and they think it's the best legal argument they have.

Whaaaaa... I don't even care to provide people with free IDs. This whole concept that someone can wonder around, conduct any kind of business in this country for years, and not have even a basic identification (even a utility bill in their name) is beyond rationality. If going to some state office is so much a burden on the desperately poor, isn't traveling to the polling place just as much a burden? In my state, they will issue a state ID for $8.50, it lasts for four years. Even gathering cans on the side of the road one could gather $8.50 every four years.

Your first link farked your assertion that I failed.

"But the consortium, looking at a broader group of rejected ballots than those covered in the court decisions, 175,010 in all, found that Mr. Gore might have won if the courts had ordered a full statewide recount of all the rejected ballots. This also assumes that county canvassing boards would have reached the same conclusions about the disputed ballots that the consortium's independent observers did. The findings indicate that Mr. Gore might have eked out a victory if he had pursued in court a course like the one he publicly advocated when he called on the state to 'count all the votes."

Therefore you fail...

Of course, you're right. That's why the GOP's plan called for free IDs and rides. They KNOW it's not really a problem, and for cost of what the small handful of people who will actually take advantage of such a program, it is well worth it (unless you are a Democrat.)

This is all Hillary, not the Democrats.

And frankly, the more Hillary continues to employ underhanded and downright Rovian tactics in this campaign (through disavowed surrogates of course), the more rank-and-file Democrats are going to be disgusted with her, and go over to Obama.

Now THAT is strong argument...if only that last little part was true. Unfortunately, it isn't.

They were not counting over-votes in any recount effort in Florida, and ONLY by doing so *might* have resulted with Gore receiving more votes.
