I don't know, submitter. I've seen almost a dozen such videos so far today and some of them were PRET-ty cool.

I thought she was pretty good. Does she have a name?

I think the sound engineer might be better suited to a career in fast food though.

Please don't blame the sound quality on the built in mic on the obviously non-tripod mounted camera, because when it came time for her solo, the FOH engineer apparently came out of his coma long enough to move a slider.

Not bad. Open tunings are fun.

Pretty cool. And she's cute and plays a Tele. My teenage self would've hit it repeatedly.

What TommyymmoT said.
But yea, not bad at all.
Sadly there are tons of good musicians out there and yet the recording companies still pump out crap to the masses.

I see the Philly SOR at the World Live Cafe, usually when PROJECT/OBJECT (Zappa band) comes into town.

They are great.

An all-girl line-up did Black Sabbath's Sleeping Village/Warning suite. Farking fantastic

Good catch, but no, I was referring to a mixing console, not a burger.

Every once in a while, every once in a great while, I forget how tee-totally farking awesome this song is. Whenever that happens, something like that vid comes along to remind me. Thanks subby.

Per the Youtube user comments, and the video's own tags, Sarah Zimmerman. Her Myspace, with original work, can be found here:

Well as far as I'm concerned, she can touch my Tal Wickenfeld any time she wants. And by Tal Wickenfeld, I mean my [redacted].

Oh yeah!!!

Bhags 2008-01-16 07:48:55 PM
first, i gotta say that this girl ROCKED!
she's young, good lookin, more than little talented, but what really captured my attention is that she was really getting into the tune. she seemed to be feeling it as she was playing it.
i'd hate to be her dad tho, this little chica's gonna be (if she's not already) a little minx thats way hard to handle.

El Chode [TotalFark] 2008-01-16 08:02:26 PM
I saw her this past summer in Asbury Park (I assume it was the same girl) and I was blown away. Not only did she nail the song, she was totally into it and you could tell she was having a blast while playing it. She really commanded the stage.

I've made her sound like a stripper.

Anyway, I thought more people should know not all kids should be shooed off lawns.

HAHA I saw Tal Wickenfeld on PBS with Jeff Beck at Crossroads(?), and I more surprised about how hard she rocked than the fact that I was watching a rock concert on PBS.

She's hella cute too.

That cover was alright, the music was good but I dont like the vocals.

Now I have to listen to the Led Zep cover + resume my GASing for a Tele.

I was more surprised at how much Beck stunk up the stage. Definitely far from his best.

Obviously, you don't play. It's almost physically impossible to play bar chords when it's slung around your waist.

Whenever I see a guitarist with his guitar around his knees, I know before he even plays the first note, that it's going to be simplistic drivel.

Johnny C 2008-01-17 03:37:38 AM
I love this song, definitely one of my top 5 Zepp tunes.
It is really a pretty easy to play, but she also has the energy behind it to keep driving the song--I just dunno about her singing those lyrics. It's loses a biatchanging the female to a male. I mean, a woman just seems much more fitting as a "rider".

Not to mention she doesn't really have a lemon.
A peach, yes. Lemon? Ionno.

/She can squeeze my lemon 'til the juice runs down my leg.

That's Wilkenfeld, isn't it?

As for the submitted material, slightly underwhelming, but would still hit it/ listen to it again.

LOL you do realize that Jimmy Page (the guy who wrote this version of TRB) popularized the low slung guitar yes?

Yah ever hear teh Led Zep bootlegs? The live stuff where JP was awake on speed for weeks? Where he wasn't recording in a studio on a stool with the fretbored under his chin? The live stuff he didn't go back and re-record in the studio after (lookin at you, TSRTS)? Johnny Ramone could have taught him a thing or three.

At the risk of sounding like a douche, The Zep version of this song is a cover. It was originally performed by Robert Johnson.

While I'd agree that playing complex stuff is generally easier when the forearm-wrist angle nears zero degrees, there are many, many great guitarists that play and have played amazing stuff with the guitar strung way down low, particularly when you get to the meat-and-potatoes of guitar: the rhythm playing.

That being said, I usually play with the strap pretty high.

ya know, i felt like that worked. fark it, it's a song, it's a sexual innuendo, anything can be anything. and she gets props from me for putting in the "you know what i'm talkin' about" after the lemon line.

i had a female friend in college that loved telling people to suck her cock. it worked for her; i felt like the lemon worked for this one.

jimb213 2008-01-17 04:13:40 PM
She's extremely talented; I really enjoyed the performance. If she can keep that kind of attitude, showmanship, and ability going into her 20's, I think she'll be able to go far!

To be fair, she was just doing the same thing as Plant. After singing the line "would you squeeze my lemon 'til the juice runs down my leg" he says "I wonder do you know what I'm talking about?"
