I was 12. My sister and her friends took me to see Kiss at Madison Square Garden. 1978 sometime.

1985, 12 years old, Huey Lewis and the News, Knoxville, TN.

First "concert": Some cheesy hair band a bunch of highschoolers had put together. They wore lipstick, and played in the school auditorium for $1 admission. I was 12.

First actual concert: Pearl Jam playing a small venue. It rocked so hard, but I will never go into a mosh pit again. I was 18.

I was 14ish. Weezer, Jimmy Eat World, and Tenacious D at the Family Arena in St. Charles, MO.

I liked Weezer at the time, so that was cool. Jimmy Eat World kind of sucks though. And Tenacious D was funny.

Huey Lewis & The News, July 1984, Lakeview Arena in Marquette, Michigan. I was 11 and wore pink and white striped basketball shorts and a white t-shirt. My sister and I went to Hardee's afterward. I remember every detail!

And I am completely jealous that submitter saw The Ramones live. That totally kicks ass.

My dad took us to see this symphonic rock concert called "British Invasion". It was an orchestra playing covers of British rock bands. The highlight was that Roger Daltry was a guest vocalist for a few Who songs. I think I was 10 or 12, but I remember it being pretty cool.

My first concert was Petra, in 1991 at the (then) Rosemont Horizon outside Chicago.

madcharlie: can't remember where.

I should clarify: I can't remember where, but somewhere near Dayton, OH.

Festival. I remember Country Joe and the Fish and CSN&Y. About 1970.

No. It was not at Yasgur farm.

Lollapalooza, July 1995, at the New World Music Theatre in Tinley Park.

I was 11. It kicked ass. I got dehydrated and it rained during Sonic Youth's set.

Canadian Canuck [TotalFark] 2008-01-14 10:01:00 PM
Define concert. I went to some Raffi concerts when I was very young plus some other orchestra stuff. I think my first real concert was Queen + PR in 2006. I guess I would have been 15 at the time.

Alice_Liddell [TotalFark] 2008-01-14 10:01:05 PM

"Live" on the Throwing Copper tour, Hershey Park Stadium, June 1995. I was 16 years old. Excellent show. Donna the Buffalo and Catherine Wheel were the openers.

2nd concert was REM (with Radiohead opening) 3 months later at the same place.

TuStultusEs: My first concert was Petra, in 1991 at the (then) Rosemont Horizon outside Chicago.

Ha! I went to a Petra show at Rosemont around that time... I'm guessing it was the same show.

They Might Be Giants
10/29/94 - Irving Plaza, New York

I was 15. It was a John Henry show. They played the album straight through. Good fun.

KoalaFace [TotalFark] 2008-01-14 10:02:59 PM
my first concert was Elton John when I was 3. THe first concert I asked to go to was KoRn in 1994 when they played the local concert dive bar. My 2 older sisters and the eldest's BF took me when I was a whopping 8 years old (they were 11, 15, and 17). And my musical addiction was all downhill from there

Ooshatielf [TotalFark] 2008-01-14 10:03:06 PM
I was 19, the Decemberist in Denver. It was horrible, the lead singer had caught a cold and he couldn't speak after 6 songs. :(

Ooshatielf [TotalFark] 2008-01-14 10:03:41 PM
I guess I should add that it was 2006.

Oh, and it was at some amphitheater in New Jersey I always forget the name of. I went with my homie Kate, and it was Tori's 40th last night and we all sang to her. :D

1992. New Kids on The Block; Cincinnati. I was 10.

...and I'm not ashamed.

My dad could get awesome tickets for anything through work, so my family had access to some sort of corporate box seats. We had a little room where we could get pop and stuff. Upon arrival I got sicker than a dog - too much stimulation, I think - and ended up lying on the lounge couch, trying to block everything out and keep myself from crying.

But I did get to see them. They were very tiny because I was so high up.

The Police, at the fabulous Forum in LA. I was a sophomore in high school--so it would have been 1980, 1981.

For my husband? Paul Revere and the Raiders at the opening of some shopping center in Tigard, Oregon, in about 1959 or some other prehistoric era. They weren't famous yet.

I'm not sure if it counts, by my parents took me to see the Wolfe Tones at some Irish convention in Secaucus, NJ. I must have been nine or 10. That was good craic.

I can't remember the year to save my life, but when I was in junior high in the early 90's, I went to see BB King.

If my first concern wasn't BB King, it would have had to have been a small ring of local rock acts - they performed as a part of a festival in this park near where I live (in my junior high days, too).

KoalaFace [TotalFark] 2008-01-14 10:06:16 PM

I do kick ass. I got in with my cousins ID because the drinking age was 18 and I was 15. The warmup band was Kraut. It was awesome.

The Cure, May 1992, Nassau Coliseum, Long Island, NY.

Amazing show.

Details? I had on a black dress and fishnets.

On the way out, my mom yelled, "FISHNETS? Only two people wear fishnets!! Dancers and whores! And you gave up dancing a few years ago!!"

The show really was amazing.
