"I don't think either of us want to inject race or gender into his campaign."
- Hillary Clinton

"I think that having a first woman president is a huge change"
- Hillary Clinton one week earlier, speaking next to a Hispanic and a black man who kept their mouths shut on race the entire debate

What a sickening biatch. Neither Richardson nor Obama have played the race card, but Hillary pulls the gender card regularly.

Hillary, FTA: This is the most exciting election we've had in such a long time because you have an African-America, an extraordinary man, a person of tremendous talents and abilities running to become our president. You have a woman running to break the highest and hardest glass ceiling. I don't think either of us want to inject race or gender into his campaign."

Well, ignoring the fact that you injected race and gender into the previous two sentences, forget the freaking glass ceiling bit. You are doing a job interview with the American people, half of whom are women. If you can't make the case that you are the best person for the job regardless of sex, then you don't deserve the job, regardless of how few women have run for President.

As it is, you sound there is some Affirmative Action slot for President, and are offended that Obama might be elected to a position that is rightfully yours. As much as I disagree with him on policy, at least he's running to be President of the United States, not President of Democrats, Blacks, or Men.

Wouldn't he win some of them over if the Republican nominee was Keyes because he is more racially "pure"? I know it all sounds crazy but I am a political junkie who like to play around with hypotheticals.

Tatsuma, that is a throughly bullshiat response. In the first Republican debate Romney got into an argument with Thompson and Guliani over "the terrorists" which ended with Romney saying he'd increase the size of gitmo and Guliani saying that he'd definitely use "enhanced techniques" against terrorists.

What was most appalling to me was the ruckus cheering that went on after they made such ridiculous statements, but that's neither here nor there.

I know you like to play the moderate, but please see the difference between a minor exaggeration (like Lionel made) and the complete fabrication that you went with.

The way Hillary has been playing the race thing disgusts me so much that if not for Florida getting all of it's delegates taken away, I'd be tempted to switch parties just to vote against her in the primary.

I decided a long time ago that one thing that would automatically make me rule out voting for a candidate was if that candidate decided to race bait. It's why I can't bring myself to vote for most of the Republican field (the immigration rhetoric is another race-baiting technique), and it's why I sure as heck can't bring myself to vote for Hillary. She knows what she's doing, she's sending a message to racist voters in South Carolina that they can be safe with her, and it makes me sick to watch.

/If it's Hillary vs. one of the race-baiting Republicans, I'm staying home

FTA:
I watched tonight's debate with the Frank Luntz focus group at the famed Merrimack Diner, while about 50 Ron Paul supporters--angry that their guy hadn't been included--ranted and raved outside. I"m not sure this was a representative group of Republicans. They seemed pretty conservative. And they...Just. Loved. Romney. Most of those who came in undecided had switched to Mitt by the end of the show. I would vomit for my country if I hadn't heard people say worse stuff about illegal immigrants in Mexico. Not that I don't feel for the plight of the average migrant worker, who works harder than 90% of Americans, but Mexico treats their immigrants worse than we do ours.

Not much of a point, other than that most of this world is stupidly xenophobic and would probably love a good episode of Monday Night Rehabilitation (see Idiocracy if missed).

The torture/Gitmo shiat means more to me because they actually affect our international opinion (insert joke about international opinion here). Whereas most everyone hates illegal immigrants (see France, Kuwait, Japan, etc.), most don't like torture and flagrant asswiping of the geneva convention.

Luckily we have our Tatsumas of the world to show us the most stretched and warped relativistic points of view for US matters, but not one ounce of understanding for Palestinian affairs.

Post-script: I am Jewish, I just despise hypocrites and I didn't mean to threadjack.

rush_limbaugh_sent_me: What I will never understand about leftists is why they have to twist every issue to make it about racism. People would oppose illegal immigration from Mexico even if they were white. They are breaking our laws and if a conservative says that's not right, a liberal will call him a racist or xenophobe. Nobody is against legal immigration, but we are against illegal immigration.

cite a reference, please, where a significant portion of liberals have accused someone of racism simply because they were against illegal immigration.
