Tucci: CCR were highly overrated.

This song is about 4 minutes too long.

EPIC FAIL

I'm probably just biased because I submitted this link. While I enjoy Marvin Gaye's version, I guess I just have a soft spot for CCR.

Proud Mary was a far better cover by CCR. For my $ their version of Heard It Through The.. doesn't hold a candle to brother Marvin's. And anyway, CCR's best song is Fortunate Son.

This.
CCR's version of this song is a classic.

The studio version needs to be cut by at least half, but I still love it.

No, it was theirs. Tina Turner covered it.

Well shut my mouth- right you are. Guess my CCR cred is shot! Still like the band, just think they have better songs than their cover of HITG.

I love CCR, but this cover sucks.

Good job cutting off the best 8 minutes.

Solid groove the whole damn song. If you can't handle it, listen to some two minute punk on speed.

My pleasure.

Tucci: Suzie Q

That was a cover. Dale Hawkins originally did it.

THIS. SO THIS IT HURTS.

Tucci: They have so many original tunes that are way better. Up around the bend. Suzie Q. Bad Moon Rising, Proud Mary, Run Through the Jungle, Who'll Stop the Rain, Lookin' Out My Back Door, Have You Ever Seen the Rain... It's amazing to think they did it all in just 3 short years.

My comment re. 'overrated' was perhaps out of line. But that tune at 11 minutes is somewhat long.

/Duderino's favourite band can't be all bad eh!

Oh, I agree that CCR has a boat-load of excellent original material, and yeah, it's pretty damn impressive that they did it in three years. I just like this song in general, regardless of who's performing it. Except for those damn anthropomorphized clay raisins.

I love covers of "I Heard It Through The Grapevine". My favourite is by The Slits, though.

Fogerty's a 'has been' since his third solo album.

THIS rocks, tho.

I have NEVER heard a bad verson/cover of this song; even the reggae
version was excellent.

Speaking of CCR covers, find Uncle Tupelo's cover of Effigy. Now.

HeadLever [TotalFark] 2008-01-14 11:13:51 AM
Tucci: On a side note, I found it to be the ultimate irony when John Fogarty was sued for "Old Man Down the Road" being a rip off of his own song "Run Through the Jungle". Nice that the suit was dismissed, even better that he won when he sued the suer for costs.

Ah, Yes. If someone wants to read about one of Rock and Roll's all-time greatest hate fests, just read up on John and Saul Zaentz and then listen to the song Vanz Kant Danz. Classic
