That would be the only way I would read it.

Scrapbooking is for lonely middle-aged women who prefer to reminisce about an earlier time in life when they had friends and a reason to live.

Yeah only freaking lonely losers spend their time screwing around with photos and showing their work to others.

Do you think Farkers graduate to Scrapbooking or is it the other way around?

Your assumption is full of FAIL. I scrapbook, and while I'm not as narcissistic as the chick in the article I'm certainly no frumpy stay at home mom with nothing better to do. I'm 26 and having been creative all my life scrapbooking suits my desire to preserve our lives in a fun and interesting manner. /end rant

Wrong. Scrapbooking is simply something girls do. I think every girl I knew in high school had a photo album with all kinds of crazy cut outs and crap to animate things. It's nothing new, and is certainly not limited to frumpy middle aged women with long lost lives.

But... a Hall of Fame. I know you're probably not into it, but yea. There appears to be a competitive level. I know that's not what you're defending, but the fact that there is a competitive level, wow. One day there will be a Farker Hall of Fame, and damnit, I WILL be in there...

submitter: has entry removed from scrapbooking Hall of Fame after it was discovered she used someone else's photo.

So, what you are saying is that her legal entry was deleted because someone might have been offended?

Who in the hell would do a thing like that?

I guess maybe they were not very clear on the rules, or maybe they changed them.

Do you think Farkers graduate to Scrapbooking or is it the other way around?

Other way around. Scrapbookers see how good their lives were back before they had the free time to get all neurotic and nostalgic, realize they now are no longer doing all the nice things they remember because 'life got in the way' (AKA they got knocked up by some latin guy at the salsa club who was never seen again), and then they turn all cynical. And then they become Farkers.

I wish I have known about the Effin Dares earlier. I've composed pages of me at a Reformation Day costume party dressed up as TBN heretic Jan Crouch, the Drag Queen Chorus Line in Portland, and now the latest project is last year's OSCON.

It's fun, but I get those awkward moments when I'm surrounded by soccer moms with pics of Hunter and Caitlyn...and I got pics of The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

I know how she feels. I was removed from the post yourself nude website when they discovered the close up was really Mr. Ed.

"I, seriously, was like the Lindsay Lohan of scrapbooking," Contes said.

That about sums up this article nicely.

Does anyone else want to see more of her scrapbooking to see what the big deal is??

She's actually even hotter than the article's pic would suggest.

(not a rickroll, promise...)

Disgruntled scrapbookers besieged the Creating Keepsakes chat room threatening to cancel subscriptions, boycott and sue. Scrapbooking bloggers called it "Hall of Fame-Gate," naming it the top scrapbooking scandal of 2007. They compared it to the performance-enhancing-drug controversies involving major league baseball player Barry Bonds and Olympic track star Marion Jones. Someone wrote that Contes was as polarizing a figure as Martha Stewart.

---Ok, so I polyvore. These people are NUTS. top scrapbooking scandal? Do they listen to themselves, or read what they write? YIKES!!!!!

Well, here's her scrapbooking. I kind of see this as an artistic diary. Sorry all you skeptics out there, but I think it's really pretty good. Anyway, take a look:

Scrapbooking (verb) - The act of gluing and attaching junk to a photo album thus rendering it useless. also see: 2nd grade art class.

The wife did this for our wedding album. Normal 2-3 inch album is now a 6 volume monstrosity.

/just kidding hon.

Yeah, she's pretty good looking, so I understand all the "hit it" posts, but I don't think you guys are thinking that through the whole way. Next thing you know there's a cute little book with decorative edges that has the condom wrapper carefully tucked inside with maybe a poloroid or two of you passed out in the bed next to her, carefully commented on with pink gel pen and little hearts.

/Have run into scrapbookers in craft/fabric stores before... that's a whole special brand of crazy right there

Renegade Replicant 2008-01-12 11:56:21 PM
The more I think about it, does it really farking matter?

Quote from a fellow scrap booker (or whatever the hell they are called) in the article "She 'doesn't have a moral bone in her body."

What the fark?
Seriously.

Oh no! She didn't take all of her photos! A witch! Burn her!

Holy Shnikies! There were other scrapbooking scandals in 2007 that this one apparently topped?
