Sorry, but if an enemy ship targets an American ship, I would expect that they would defend themselves.

That said, I'm rather sick of wars. Not as much fun as they make them out to be on the old movies, but pretending that we're not going to defend a vessel is pretty dumb. This whole war thing does in fact involve killing other humans, come to find out. It's not Risk, you don't just roll some dice and pick up some little plastic triangles when your roll comes up short.

Maybe what this ding-a-ling said sounds harsh, or macho, or whatever... but it's a harsh business, isn't it?

What a farkin' moron.

I don't understand why people believe in that shiat.

Going back in homo sapien history, possibly the very first true homo sapien hid in his cave while lightning flashed and thunder boomed, thinking he was being punished for the animal he just killed and ate, or perhaps he thought he was being punished for forcing sex on a female counterpart. So he blamed it on a higher being, explaining what couldn't be explained. And thus, religion was born. That's how religion was born, attempting to explain the unexplainable.

And then it was used to guilt others into doing/not doing something, because if you did it, it would make 'god' angry and he'd punish you for all eternity! But if you apologized (confessed) then he'd forgive you and you're ok. What a crock.

Listen to some of George Carlin's work on religion. God's all powerful and almighty...but he needs your money! He loves you and wants you to do good and if you disobey him he will punish you for all eternity!!!

But, he loves you!

I think Obama is trying to run as far to the left as he can without alienating independent voters. Hillary has been running a centrist general election campaign since she got in. She got bit in the ass in Iowa and learned by New Hampshire where she had to run to.

Not often do I see a post so utterly lacking lacking in anything even remotely to be construed as a rational thought, but today you sir have set a new benchmark. (even trolls are rational)

Your contention is that you have to be part of something before you have a say in it is so utterly insipid as to be barely worth a response, but I'm bored....

Do you work for the power company? But as of right now your reading Fark with what they provide (sure you pay for it, but you don't generate the electricity). You drive down roads that you didn't build, you fuel up with gas that you had no hand in producing. You eat food that you didn't grow (unless your a farmer, or have a garden or livestock). When you eat out you neither cooked nor cleaned up (before you got there or after). If you've never written a line on commercial code what right have you, under your assertion, to ever biatch about software of anykind. How many movies have you written/directed/stared in? Until you do then you may not comment on them. But alas, somehow, you've become the arbiter of all things military and who can respond and when.

It's weak and shallow non-thinking, it's not even all that interesting anymore.

The question as put to the candidates had reference to a military response to hostile actions of a belligerent nation(for the moment forget who that nation is). Whoever the next president is, regardless of party, they will have constitutionally mandated role as Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces. The electorate expects them to take that role seriously. There are times to talk, then there are times when talking is over.

I don't know...

I have problems with most everything that most every candidate does.. (I'm a rather contrary sort of girl), but I don't have a problem with telling a potential enemy that if he targets one of our vessels, he's asking for big trouble.

Seems okay to me. Tell me where I'm wrong. Is it the tone? Is it the hell bit? The quote seems a touch on the dramatic side, but I still agree with the sentiment.

I see no reason to view Iran as a potential enemy at this point. Not to the USA. To Israel? Highly questionable, regardless of what their hawks constantly claim.
We're over there trying to provoke a confrontation. And I'm surprised that the guys in the speedboats weren't mooning the ship. But that's probably just because that's what I'd have been doing.

For me it goes like this:

I believe the actions taken by the Iranians in the instance, (And the rhetoric and other actions they have been taking since being placed on the axis of evil list) is a calculated maneuver to goad the US into war.

I believe they want to get the US to strike. (Note: Not them strike the US) so they can rally support that they are losing at home. This is a smart move on their part, because I've seen this tactic work for them before in the 80s when Iraq attacked Iran. (The difference is the Mullahs fell into that situation instead of planning for it, which is what I think they are doing here)

Reverend Huckabee's comments don't sit well with me, because it makes him a candidate that I believe would play into the mullah's hands exactly like they want him to.

It's to bad that you are to stupid to see the point. All those jobs you listed don't require you to give up years of your life with the very real threat of death.

The point is to point out all the assholes who bang the drums of war but are to chicken shiat to join up and help fight for our freedom. Either fight for what you think is right or get the hell out of the way.

If we heard the president of Iran saying "If evil America enters this country, they will meet their death at the hands of Allah" we'd get our panties in a bundle about a religious-fanatic dictator with a fetish for provocation.

When I hear a politician from my own country spouting the same hateful, ignorant crap, you can bet I'm gonna have a problem with it.
