This one needs a HERO tag.

No kidding. Delay me 2 days in a row and I might trash your freaking desk too.

Phone calls to the airline and airport company went unanswered on Saturday.

"There's no one from the company, no one is showing their face or telling us when we're going to fly. We're stranded with children and the elderly,"

They can't even answer their phones? Oh yeah, I'd be pissed.

nothing like a riot to get somebody's attention...

This airline strike is a plot by the 3rd reich to divert attention away from their real evil scheme.

Artmerlyn: In the Spanish-speaking world, Argentinian's have a distinct reputation for being arrogant and narcissistic.

Hahaha, my cousin is married to a woman from Argentina, and last year at Thanksgiving she was incensed at having to go to his brother's home for dinner. The reason? "I will not eat that...that...GRINGO TURKEY!"

joshua4 2008-01-13 04:57:32 AM
somehow this is the Bush administration's fault

They may raise a lot of sheep but they don't have to act like them.

i worked at walt disney world at one point (grumble). i know a lot of the tour groups from argentina had to be told that it's not normal to shove people in america.

Artmerlyn:

Here, here, here´s another one:

A brazilian and an argentinian find a magic lamp. both have a single wish. The argentinian goes first:

"I want a big wall, very, very tall, surround the whole Argentina, protecting us from the indians and monkeys outside our borders. A strong wall, without a single leak"

The Genie blinks and says "done"

Now it´s the brazilian:

"Do you remember that wall?"

The Genie says yes.

"Fill it with water"

//tada!!!
//brazilian
//argentina is a nice country with a terrible people. But aren´t they all? (except Canada)

I'm an Englishman who lived in Argentina for around a year.

They don't particularly like us all that much...

Television images showed damaged ticket counters and broken glass in the main hall of the Aerolineas Argentinas terminal

Did anyone else read that as Areolas Argentinas?

Aerolineas Argentinas is 95 percent controlled by Spain's Marsans, with the remainder held by the Argentine state.

Ohhh, the Marsans! That explains it!

??

What are Argentinians? Perhaps a reference to Argentines?

BeerinDaJacuzzi 2008-01-13 09:07:59 AM
Wow. TFA doesn't mention what happened to these people. In the good ole' USA they would be marched to Gitmo, or worse: whacked like that woman in Phoenix...

Don't recall ever meeting an Argentine I liked...

Yes, every day I worry about being "marched to GTMO."
FYI...the resident population of GTMO is getting smaller...we aren't sending people terrorists there anymore.

dude you got that right about argentina.

I am posting this from a hotel in orlando, and a guy from Argentina and his disgusting wife who was from the bay area were in line ahead of me and my girl. Before he even got his name out of his month he said he was from Arg and he lived in the Bay Area.

I mean can you get more douchey than that combo? She looked like she was from portland, since they seem to have an exchange program.

It was about 11:30 and his american express would not scan, his other cards would, but not his american express. My card worked.

He starts screaming at the lady because he wants to use that particular card. And it is her problem that the magnetic strip is gone. She calls Amex, the card is good, but he rfused to beleive it will not scan. Though his other one will.

Then he goes onto this rant about the south sucks, america sucks, incomptence, etc.

He is holding on the clerks arm the whole time. You just do not go and grab women you do not know.

I tell him its late and it does appear to be the card so just use the other one and let the rest of people in this family hotel check in. No need to hold the ladys arm.

He gets quiet and turns to his wife and says in spanish "you see how rude americans are, see how they protect each other? If I were in Argentina I would have kicked his ass"

I was very polite when i spoke to him because he was holding up the line. And screaming mf around kids.

I politely say "you would be advised to know that the majority of orlando can speak spanish" Like the two young ladies behind the desk with the name tags that show puerto rico and venezuela.

I am a little guy, but fairly good shape, And this guy wwas typical latin american 40 year thin with potbelly, hair too long, black starbucks glasses, etc. My girlfriend could have kicked his ass.

He then in english tells me to mind my business, and i switch to spanish and say "not since you threatened to kick my ass, insult my country, do i have to do anything"

The dude then turns around and says "so you learned a little spanish in college" And I say why yes in colombia, where my family is from. In case he didnt notice I am fairly latin looking myself, and the italian and portuguese girlfriend standing next me. We look like we just got off the boat.

My girlfriend told me later at some point that i started looking really evil, which only happens when I am really pissed, which is hardly ever, but it has been a rough week, two funerals, sick friend... I just want to go to bed.

The guy was a complete douchebag. He finally paid with his other card, and I ended getting upgraded to a suite by the manager becuase I took the wind out of guys sails, and had to stand there for a half hour listening to him rant.

The girl behind the desk said she heard him say in spanish we would kick my ass and that they were happy I calmed him down, and that if it would have gotten physical they would have sided with the police for me.

It would have never gotten to a fight, as most latins , especially argentines, are blowhards. I could tell I had been in more scraps than he. I was a manager at Pat Obriens for two years, I fight quick and dirty.

I mean if you cant look at a pic me and maybe wonder if i cannot speak spanish, especially in Orlando?

The other guy in pic is my Uncle Bob, a real life carl from Aqau Teen.

216.120.227.121

As a fellow colommbian my favorite joke about them is this.

"you know how to become a millionaire? Buy an Argentinian for what they really are worth. and sell them for what the think they are worth"

they cook beef well.

And to answer you from another thread, that really is my ex in colombia, she probably put herself o the buena o fea site.

I am in orlando now on business, will be back in jacksonville manana, will dig up and post a pic of us together.

I despise rudeness. but most latin people are rude in social siituations. Even colombians treat service people crappily, and do not understand the concept of waiting in line, or that you can control the volume of your voice.

Egon Spengler 2008-01-13 10:22:23 AM
There are a lot of wanna-be aristocratic, arrogant Argies, but I would hazard to say that the per capita is no greater than say, Los Angeles.

Unfortunately racism is so alive and well in Latin America, that its almost unnoticeable, subtle. The European descended just miss their slaves and haciendas.

/Chilean. Yes, we have plenty of douchebags.
//couple of good Argentine friends.

evareste 2008-01-13 10:28:58 AM
These people are animals. They should not be allowed on planes with civilized folks.

LessO2 2008-01-13 10:31:25 AM
While we're a little more civilized here in the States, I do think something like this can and will happen sometime in the not-too-distant future.

The airlines are nickel-and-diming us, air traffic control equipment is sorely outdated, control centers are understaffed and many (not all) flight attendants hate their bosses, especially upper management.

Wouldn't be surprised if there's some revolt on a plane that's been sitting on the tarmac for several hours.

Then maybe we can see some boobies run across the screen in the moment of panic.

I'm part Argentinian and I'm getting a kick out of these replies. Mainly because they are all true. I lived there on and off for 6 years and I got to say there are SOME good people but thats more far and few in between. I love the food, the sights, but the people are extreme blow hards.

/I LOL'd at the sale joke for arg

ZzeusS 2008-01-13 11:43:38 AM
Only Argentines I knew were women, and they did have a certain flair and zest for life. I guess you could call it arrogance. I liked it.

maq0r 2008-01-13 01:12:30 PM
If you don't follow soccer, you won't get this joke:

Batistuta and Hernan Crespo are arguing on the field:

"Dude, I'm the son of God"
"No dude, I was sent by God"
"No pibe, I really am the son of God"
"No dude, I AM the real messiah sent by God."

They both see Maradona approach and say
"Let's ask Diego Armando, he'll know who is the real son of God, Hey Diego, who is the real son of God?"

Maradona replies:
"And who said I sent someone?"

/Venezuelan.

scruffy1 [TotalFark] 2008-01-13 01:22:22 PM
Regarding Argentinian arrogance I once heard this joke, translated from the original Spanish format:

"How do you get an Argentinian to ride in public transportation?"

"Tell them they own the bus."

sonarbison 2008-01-13 01:47:44 PM
The reason why Argentines are considered arrogant is because Argentina is 95% white. Most Argentines are descendants of Italian, Spanish and German immigrants (which is why they have a distinct accent.) In Latin America, power, beauty and wealth correlate strongly with whiteness. If you don't believe me, just watch the Spanish-language telenovelas. All the actors are white, and the only time you see dark-skinned, mestizos are when they play lower-class people or servants. It's true!

Interesting note, I got held up at an airport in Buenos Aires a few months ago. Link.

Shock_wave 2008-01-13 02:27:07 PM
Good thing they didn't try that in Canada. The gestapo err RCMP would have tasered them to death.

Not to mention the locust-minded Brazilians. They don´t give a frack if the forum/list/blog/myspace is an English-only place, they DO write their rants in Portuguese. If somebody complains, they start a giant rant about Bush, 9/11, Imperialism, bla bla bla.

Once again, I´m forced to apologize for my semi-civilized fellow Brazilians.

//sometimes Brazilians are worse than anyone from Argentina.
