Chavez paid ransom. Now the Venezuelan government officially contributes to terrorist organizations.

Wants to win FARK's hearts once again as a world hero.

Note: I said FARK not FARC

I'm all for women in the military, but I'm a tad amazed that small girl doesn't collapse under the weight of her bandoliers.

Ransom was paid in 5 dollar installments?

Just remember, this is the Internet. Somewhere, probably on 4chan, there's a drawing of Yosemite Sam with tits.

When I was in the Air Force, I spent 2 months in the Columbian jungle assisting the Columbian Air Force with drug interdiction. Literally minutes after our plane touched down on a dirt strip in the jungle, we were shown a video tape captured from the FARC. The video contained footage of successful FARC attacks on various sites, and the celebratory aftermath. Basically, it was a lot of shooting and yelling followed by smiling leftists posing near bullet-riddled bodies, body parts, and severed heads. Right after that was when they issued our M-16s, helmets, and flak jackets. I made sure mine were clean and ready at all times. Fun times.

Holy shiat. I, for one, would have peed my pants.

Actually, there were two things that bothered me more than that.

First was when they informed us that due to our proximity to the river, it was possible for the FARC to mortar us from the riverbank. That explained all the sandbags.

Second was when the Columbian Air Force conducted an unannounced practice where they flew over our base and a bunch of soldiers parachuted out. I didn't think the FARC had access to that kind of military aircraft, but it still scared the crap out of me. I wasn't sure whether to take pictures or run for my rifle- I chose pictures.

Hey I know you had a job etc. but what did you make of the "War on Drugs" away from US turf? Did you see much silly stuff on the govt. side that gets bad press about(dropping chemicals on fields/farmers etc.) as well as FARC kidnappings etc? Did you feel the whole mission was doing any good?
Saw a documentary recently that kinda portrayed the ordinary people as being stuck between FARC and Govt. cruelty without either side getting near any of their objectives.

Funny, I didn't realize Columbia had either an air force or a jungle. Drug runners, quite probably. The South Carolina ANG, soitanly, unless george w. bush shipped them off to Iraq.

Colombia, maldita sea, ¡Colombia!

As a local I can say that documentary is full of BS. We the ordinary people are stuck between guerrillas and paramilitaries, and we hate them both overwhelmingly, while the government has a 80% approval rating. What happens is that the paramilitaries and the government have as common enemies the guerrillas, and as expected there are episodes when certain generals had deals and concesions with paramilitary groups, this are of course blown out of proportion by farc's and eln PR machine around the world to undermine the image of the government. Sadly some naive people fall into this and spend more time attacking the president than denouncing the horrible things guerrillas have done, some times even ignoring them.

My grandfather was kidnapped by the FARC once, around 15 years ago.

We owned several farms in Perija (Zulia state, Venezuela), he was held in captivity for around 2 years.

The price?, we sold all 4 farms to raise money to pay the ransom.

So yea, screw them.

They musta meant British Columbia, which has no air force but has a dense rainforest. (not a tropical one, so it's just wet and not hot)

I couldn't find anything regarding Chavez paying ransom to FARC. Care to show your work? 'Cause from here it looks like you are misinformed or putting out disinformation.
