Best movie they made together that almost nobody has ever seen: Pennies From Heaven.

Well I'm gonna to go then. And I don't need any of this. I don't need this stuff, and I don't need you. I don't need anything except this...And that's it and that's the only thing I need, is this. I don't need this or this. Just this ashtray. And this paddle game, the ashtray and the paddle game and that's all I need. And this remote control. The ashtray, the paddle game, and the remote control, and that's all I need. And these matches. The ashtray, and these matches, and the remote control and the paddle ball. And this lamp. The ashtray, this paddle game and the remote control and the lamp and that's all I need. And that's all I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one - I need this. The paddle game, and the chair, and the remote control, and the matches, for sure. And this. And that's all I need. The ashtray, the remote control, the paddle game, this magazine and the chair...And I don't need one other thing, except my dog

...I don't need my dog.

Ditto.

And it even has a Christopher Walken dance number in it.

I just watched Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid earlier this evening. Still watch The Jerk whenever I run across it on TV. And Bernadette looked pretty damn cute in this movie.

let's not forget Kathleen Turner In "Man with Two Brains"-
she had an ass you could eat lunch off of, citizen's divorce or not

Gilligan_Buddy: True, true. She was absolutely eat-her-up adorable. Probably still is, as far as I know.

Right before Christmas I found the "Steve Martin Comedy Collection" at Best Buy for $10. It was a collection of The Jerk, The Lonely Guy & Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. My kids are now thoroughly corrupted & fans of early Steve Martin.

I agree with you 100%, she's always been at the top of my 'to-do' list. For some odd reason, I thought she was dead, and was going to make a snarky comment about your post. I Googled her and found this site (pops). From what I can see, she still looks pretty good.
My favorite line from any movie is delivered by Peters in Pink Cadillac. She's waiting in the car outside a casino and a man flashes her and asks "whaddaya think of this?"
She quips back "looks like a penis, only smaller."

One of my all time favorite duets and movies. Steve Martin is a comedic genius and a great actor.

Perhaps you were thinking of Madeline Kahn.

I love that moment where he seems bewildered by the sudden appearance of the cornet, then he comes right back in with the ukulele accompaniment without changing his expression. :)

Manic_Repressive: Yup, still alive and still edible, I see. Thanks!

This is my absolutely favorite part of the movie. It is romantic, in a half-retarded way.

Mr. C bought a ukulele and secretly taught my son to sing this song with him so they could surprise me for Valentine's day.

Mr. C is full of win, wouldn't you agree?

just this week i had 3 different people bring me new phonebooks. every time i got one i started yelling " new phone books are here. new phone books are here...and "that guy must really hate phonebooks!!!" anyway, none of the people delivering phonebooks got the reference.

The ukulele in this was played by Lyle Ritz - uke player extrodinaire and bassist on Pet Sounds.

The ukecast - for all your uke casting needs.
