Full quotation: "If you have a social need, you're with Hillary. If you want Obama to be your imaginary hip black friend and you're young and you have no social needs, then he's cool."

So, vote for me if you're white, old, and not a Republican or Independent.

FTA: She now insists that it is action (her), not words (Obama), that matters when picking a president

Really? I keep hearing about this "action" over "words" meme. But I do not know what the hell she has actually done that makes her fit to be President, which is so much better than the list of Obama's accomplishments.

She keeps saying that she has been an "agent of change for 35 years." Really? What exactly have you changed? I know the changes that Obama has initiated, his career in public service started as a community organizer getting kids off the streets of Chicago. What has Hillary done exactly?

If she has enacted positive changes in our nation which prove that she is fit to be the next President... then why the fark haven't I heard about any of them before?

She was the presidents wife, once. She changed the sheets in the Presidential Bedroom.

The other day she called him another George W. Bush(p).

But wasn't it just a little while ago that he wasn't "black enough?(p)"

To re-cap; he's not experienced enough, black enough, or liberal enough.

Code_Archeologist: What has Hillary done exactly?

She was on the Board of Directors for WalMart, a company that significantly helped changed the business and labor market, and trade balance of the country.

In fairness, she didn't say she'd been an agent of positive change.

Yeah, and there goes the idea that we were going to be able to keep the reverse-race-card race-card out of this election.

1. Say something blatantly race-baiting and derogatory
2. Wait for a less than happy response from the person who was baited
3. WTF WORD FASCISTS YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING WITHOUT BEING CALLED A RACIST ANYMORE

Perhaps Obama needed that kind of wave, but New Hampshire has broken it. Now he has to compete in big states that will be settled by expensive TV advertising and ground organisation rather than by rallies and speeches, conditions that should favour Clinton.

Obama is going to break 100,000 donors before Nevada in '08 alone. The Tie in New Hampshire was dumb punditry, not a set back.

Well, white women are the largest of all the demographic groups, so on Freedland's logic I guess she will win. Being of the same race and sex as a candidate isn't the best reason to vote for them, but I don't suppose it's the worst, either.

If I missed something, I apologize, but I haven't heard anything from Obama, or even his campaign, about the racial politics involved here. It's all been from Hillary, her campaign, or reactions to their statements.

I find it sad that Obama is being tarnished while doing what he can to stay above the fray.

Code_Archeologist: She keeps saying that she has been an "agent of change for 35 years." Really?

THIS. Either she has spent 35 years trying to enact change and has not been able to, meaning she is an inept leader, or she has been an agent of change somewhere over those 35 years and is now the status quo. Which one is it? You cannot extol both your status within the system and your outsider status in the same breath.

White as a polar bear eating a mayonnaise sandwich on whitebread in a blizzard, here. I like Obama, but African-American as he is, he has never seemed the least bit "hip" to me.

Congrats to the Clinton campaign, by the way, for turning a 39-37%, 9-delegate to 9-delegate tie into a "remarkable victory" and "amazing comeback". Your work would make Donny Rumsfeld proud.

Too bad he perpetually suffers from "rich white guy" syndrome.

It took months, but I finally met actual Hillary backers today. Their reasons (direct quotes):

1. "I think its so cool that we're like, gonna get a woman president and stuff. I mean, it's about time!"

2. "It's like, not Obama's turn. He like, tried to skip several steps or something."

...And then the conversation went quickly back to fashion.

/35 years, hasn't changed a damn thing
//Unless you count what Bill did, and then you're just trying to get around the Constitutionally created term limits.

That is a splendid idea. Shall we start a grassroots movement now?

Who the fark is voting for this woman? Where are these people? I am the single, loan Republican (and a very moderate one) among all my friends. Not a single one of them--male or female--wants Hillary. And it's not exactly because they greatly prefer another candidate. It's basically an, "Anyone but her" stance. And some of them have been voting straight Democrat tickets since they were 18.

My 82 year old grandmother is a staunch Democrat who has never voted Republican for President. She was one of the 13 or so people in the nation who voted for Mondale. She refuses to vote for Clinton.

I know it's a small sample size, but I can't count the number of times I see and hear similar stories from others at work, on Fark, and elsewhere.

I'm planning on voting Obama. If he's not on the ticket, I don't really know. But I know I won't vote for Clinton. If it's between her and one of the religious whack jobs on the Reublican side, they'll be at least two votes in this nation for Farrakhan/Duke.

Sultan Of Herf 2008-01-11 09:19:36 PM
Said it before, Ill say it again...please dear god (or whatever)anyone but Hillary. OMG if I have to see and hear that biatch for 4-8 years...

Same story with me.

And in no political (or other) thread here on Fark have I seen any genuine Hillary Clinton supporter. Of all the crazed fans of all the crazed candidates, nary a one who owns up to being a true-blue admirer and supporter of Clinton. Just a few "well, maybe she's not that bad..." or "... could be the most electable, I'll hold my nose and vote ..." comments.

I mean, seriously. Perhaps I've missed them. Who are they? My best guess at the moment, based on the New Hampshire results (which were obviously going to be close, so the Clinton campaign worked up a phony "Obamamania" story a few days before the vote, allowing them to call the resulting tie a "win"), is lots of good-hearted old ladies who don't use the Internet.

Hillary? You mean the wife of the president who got a blowjob. Why would you vote for her? Vote for the chick who gives blowjobs instead. Obama? I've never even heard that word before but it sounds foreign.

During my recent sojourn in the funny farm there were lots of RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT supporters. He's got my personal demographic covered. FREEDOM!
