Dude, Bush has to smoke pot. No one can be that stupid sober.

All of the candidates on the right have succeeded in making themselves look utterly insane. In their bid to "out macho" each other on torture and war, they have all made it clear that we will be in for four more years of the same crap: Never ending war. Not a military/political response that is beneficial, like getting Osama or sanctioning Saudi Arabia, but more useless meat-grinders and cash cows like Iraq. Great. Good job, nut-bags.

Wow, he does have a very good concept of time. Very impressive for one so severely retarded.

Inbreeding. Years and years of constant inbreeding. We are talking about an asshole who nearly choked to death on a peanut.

We've made our bed, and we had better bring some stability to the Middle East now that we've decided to give ourselves that responsibility. 100 years of occupation does not mean 100 years of war.

"The right?"

How far left do you have to be to see Clinton and Obama as righties? Both of them say we'll most likely still have troops in Iraq next time an election rolls around.

In all fairness, Ron Paul looks utterly insane to most for other reasons.

Well, at least we got 9 posts before someone brought up Ron Paul.

I'm sure at the end of our occupation we'll be just as successfully as the British.

The British did fine in India, but they were sometimes brutal, always intelligent and methodical and usually subtle in their rule.

American occupation is being hit in the face with a baseball bat every single day.

The British were smart enough to realize that you had to keep the local governance intact, that you had to place yourself over the old power and allow them to continue to rule, and that you gained the spoils of war by taxing trade and not remaking the country in your image.

Really, President shiat-for-brains? It's great that we have you around to tell us these things.

Bottom line is, when the Chinese cut our credit line we won't be able to airlift in any more pork chops, so the fatties will have to come home or live on felafel.

I've always thought McCain's 100-year quote is a metaphor. I believe he is trying to say it would be irresponsible to withdraw troops any time in the near future, and i wholeheartedly agree.

I've always thought it was an acknowledgment that there will never be peace or stability in that region and that those people will continue to fight and kill whomever happens to be there just like they have since the beginning of humanity.

Sounds more like he's saying the Iraqi people will never be free, not if he can do anything to prevent it.

They are simply targeting their message to what they think their audience wants to hear.

/in primaries republicans are about 50% more rightwing than would be if they actually got elected as president and democrats are about 25% more leftwing than they would be if they got elected as president

/primaries are not good for US politics

Any politician who thinks there won't be troops in Iraq four years from now is too stupid to run a country. So, any politician who says there won't be is either an idiot or a liar. Take your pick.

You don't need to be "left", you just need to have an education. Gravel and Kucinich are the only ones running that are actually left of center. American politics is firmly rooted in the authoritarian right wing corner of the political compass.

We are currently occupying Iraq, and have been since about 3 weeks after the initial invasion. So all of the violence for the past 5 years has been due to our occupation. Staying in iraq 100 more years means 100 more years of what we have been getting.Mccain thinks that for the next 100 years we should control Iraq like a 51 state,a state where we like to blow things up, and then rebuild it, then blow it up some more.

Us in Iraq = no peace in Iraq, ever. Not to mention the whole planting the seeds for new terrorists daily thing.
