Wow. That sucks. They made $9.11 per hour, you know.

HomerButt 2008-01-11 12:05:02 PM
Giuliani, for his part, poured several million dollars into advertising in Iowa and New Hampshire, only to come in far behind his opponents. He has been spending millions of dollars over the past month to run TV ads in Florida.

Thank goodness for Tivo. I haven't seen a single campaign ad this cycle.

SherKhan 2008-01-11 12:16:21 PM
Mark my words (FARKy under "idiot spouting unsubstantiated gibberish"): As unpopular as he is (and I wonder if it's his genuine douchiness or his socially liberal stances) there remain only a few really bad ideas remaining unembraced so he'll be appointed to some unsuitable position if there's a Republican administration.

Snarfangel [TotalFark] 2008-01-11 01:00:56 PM
If you want to see what kind of administration a presidential candidate will have, just look at the people they surround themselves with.

Giuliani has Norman Podhoretz. Mr. 9/11 is scary enough domestically, but that's just a foreign policy nightmare waiting to happen.

I think you're being terribly unfair. They also had a 911-K.

So according to this thread, he is responsible for the emergency line that people call when they accidentally let tigers out of the cage at the zoo?

Damn, and I thought from The Simpsons the real number was "912" for emergencies. Thanks Rudy for clearing that up.

Maybe if Rudy spoke in tongues and handled snakes like Huckabee and Romney, he would get further with the Republican base.

can someone with photshop skills take a picture from Jerry Maguire and put Rudy's face up against Tom Cruises and then have a big caption that says

"You had me at '9/11!'"

?

I saw him in the Republican debate in Myrtle Beach last night. He came off as incoherent and stammering. I laughed out loud at him at one point.

Stick a fork in him, he's done.

I am personally pro-choice, but abortion is clearly the absolute worst form of birth control ever devised, and there are so many alternatives to it that it boggles the mind that anyone still resorts to it.

The truth is, if the anti-abortion people were really sincere, there would be free condom machines on every street corner and the 7-11 would sell RU-486 from gumball machines. The reality is, these people clearly aren't as much anti-abortion, as they are anti-sex - which is just plain dumb.

That didn't stop George W. Bush from winning the Presidency. I say he's got 9 chances in 11.

Despite the SC debate debacle, I heard rudy is still only 9.11% points behind Huckabee there.

Dude, I can't read your post unless it's in the form of a poem or haiku. :)

All kidding aside, your non-pentametric post is right, and the guy has some international aspirations. Were there to be another Republican administration, he might get some foreign post-, ambassador-, or Sec. of State- (God forbid) type position.

What a great American, Rudy Guiliani! Doing it the American way, that's right screw ALL your loyal workers and then sell their jobs off to foreigners whilst screaming about Patriotism and 9/11. Way to go, Rudy. Why don'tcha make a few more visits to Ground Zero and shake a few hands?

On a somewhat related note, Oliver Stone's World Trade Center was one of the worst movie I have seen in years.

I work on Congressional campaigns for a living and I have done this before... usually done when FEC quarterly reports are due and the campaign wants to report a higher cash on hand number.

Who did you think did the best at the debate? And how was the audience reaction to Paul, it seemed like he did get a few good applauses.

Does anybody else think that the Republican primary season is a lot like the NFC playoffs this year? Mildly entertaining, but ultimately a complete waste of time. I think it's pretty clear Hillary-Obama is this year's Patriots-Colts. The candidates kind of match the head coaches, too - assuming you equate Hillary with Belicheat...

d'art 2008-01-11 03:18:22 PM
If nothing else, I think Rudy Giuliani's firmly established that he's got what it takes to accomplish tasks in a way that's more inefficient and expensive than any member of the U.S. Congress or former governor can hope.

All Republican candidates have struggled to raise money for the 2008 presidential race, an indication that GOP donors aren't as energized as Democrats.

That's funny, I could swear it was a Republican who set the all-time single-day fundraising record for any party less than a month ago.

It seems to have coincided pretty closely with Pat Robertson's endorsement.
