Sorry... but they don't post the Hannah Montana videos that you DO get here anymore. Wake up and smell the Muse. (Or listen to the stream at Indie 103.1 (new window) if you want to update yourself on the awesomeness of Muse and the like.

Pfft! that ain't nowhere as cool as that old Aldo Nova video with the guy shootin laser beams out of a guitar and blowing up a door:

Pure win, but I can't play the damn song on the Hard setting of Guitar Hero III. The section in the video with the Unicorn is always my downfall.

I think it's pretty safe to say that Muse has some of the most unusual music videos in recent years.

Treygreen13 2008-01-11 12:43:10 PM
My favorite music video of all time. I didn't even have to look at it.

I think Muse are a cadre of self important douchebags, but man can they rock. I hate all of them, but I shell out the cash to see them.

Sniff, sniff....smells stale. I just listened to Hysteria, Starlight, Bliss and Assassin (Live). Meh.

Good live energy, but not my thing. My wife might like it though.

I can barely play it on easy...but boy, even screwing it up, this song makes me feel like a bad ass.

Heh.. I can 5 star it on medium, and can't even finish it on hard. Damn that game has a steep learning curve between difficulties.

This is the 'knees too sharp' of the music thread.

I've seen 'em 4 times now, and they were farking amazing every time.

I'd have to say that Daft Punk was the only act at Lollapalooza 07 that I enjoyed more.

Eh, I don't know... I like Muse -- "Absolution" was a grand masterpiece -- but "Black Holes and Revelations" has not made the cut for me. Not sure what it is, but it is a definite step backward from "Absolution". It doesn't suck, but it's just not that great either. I expected more from them.

I knew from the headline it was Knights of Cydonia. Hands down the greatest music video of all time.

I live on the complete other side of the world, yet they've been here four times, which is awesome. I only missed them once, the most recent, because I was out of town.

/best band of the decade
//and they do great interviews

It's a step sideways more than anything - there's no way they can continue making Absolution style albums.

I managed to get through the song on Expert in GH3 exactly once. Those triplets at the end (OYG, OYG, OYG) are freaking murder on your hands.

FiendishFellow05 2008-01-11 04:46:30 PM
Muse rocks, oh yeah.

MUSIC HISTORY LESSON:

Matt Bellamy's(Muse's lead guitarist/singer) father was George Bellamy. George Bellamy's claim to fame was as the rhythm guitarist for The Tornadoes, who were the first British group to top the U.S. charts with Telstar (pops) in 1962.

There is also a connection between "Knights Of Cydonia" and "Telstar": the guitar sound in KOC inspired by "Telstar".

Interesting, no?

Gangway Fathead 2008-01-11 05:16:54 PM
I know this is going to sound pointless and ridiculous - but every time I heard this song I always thought it would be a great score for a post-apocalyptic western.

Seems the video director thought the same thing. :)

e-Macer 2008-01-11 08:07:38 PM
Damn, but I love this song. I made a point of learning it as soon as I heard it, and last week I had the added pleasure of embarassing my Guitar Hero-ing friends by beating it on hard. 3 stars, but hey, not bad for a rookie, right?

As long as the Guitar Hero threadjack is in play, I'd just like to say on behalf of open-minded guitarists that it's a darn fun game. I wish I'd tried it sooner.

Couldn't agree more - haven't seen them live, sadly, but the footage on YouTube tells me I need to. Outstanding musicians.

1 - I like this song a lot. One of my favs on guitar hero III as well.

2 - This video is pretty much exactly what i expected it would be for this song.

If you're just getting turned on to Muse, then yes. But if you've loved them for awhile, their live show is lacking something. In fact, I wrote about it... IN MY BLOG

/whore.

dmax Dang. That was Sweet. And Queen.

Yes! This is an awesome song, but it is a tribute to Queen, intentional or not. It is basically a Queen song. Both bands are probably in my top 5 of all time, so I'm cool with that.

galleech 2008-01-12 09:09:09 PM
After listening to a bunch of Muse song, they are decent at lest. The problem is that none of the songs seems to grab me like Knight of Cydonia. They have talent but I don't hear any killer riffs, solos, or vocal hooks.

Hysteria. Better riffs than even the mighty Knights. And a proper chorus too :p

Indeed. I work at a titty bar, and will quite often play Hysteria and Supermassive Black Holes. And every now and then, when things are slow, I play Cydonia as a pick me up.
