And I am not looking forward to hearing it, especially if it's not like the early stuff.

lotustuned 2008-01-11 09:30:53 AM
I also am not looking forward to listening to this album which isn't being recorded in the studio, and isn't being recorded with Matt Lunge and that doesn't have a title.

Okay, but is Elvis Presley in the studio working on an album?

You can just scratch your nose once for no, or rub your eyes twice if the answer is yes.

Broken Logic [TotalFark] 2008-01-11 09:51:22 AM
Okay, wait...so it's not gonna be the same album they've put out for the past 30 years or so?

Broken Logic: Okay, wait...so it's not gonna be the same album they've put out for the past 30 years or so?

Of course it will be. But that won't have any affect on its rockingness.

"Following stories that the band have returned to the studio for their first album since 2000's"

Is this article from the distant distant future?

Broken Logic: Okay, wait...so it's not gonna be the same album they've put out for the past 30 years or so?

What a fresh and original joke! ;-)

Seriously, despite their creative flaws, the two albums "Highway to Hell" and "Back in Black" stand as towering monsters over the world of hard rock and roll. Nothing else has even come close to capturing the pure, dirty, kick-in-the-balls groove that AC/DC basically established and laid claim to with those recordings.

I swear one of them has cancer.

I was pretty sure 1-2 years ago Angus and Brian had talked about doing a double album, they were in the studio doing demos and that it was going to be out at the beginning of 2007...

Awssum 2008-01-11 11:55:35 AM

AC/DC Repetitive? Yes. All their songs are about booze, women or crime.

This however does not effect their pure rock awssum-ness!.

/So givin' the horns right now!

well time to write a new ACDC song, gets out the dart board labled A - G, three darts three chords one song. Rinse repeat and you have an album. I think this will come with a free discount to get your uneccessarly large truck washed, and a free trim for your mullet. Also broken cd parts can be used to cul lines of meth. So all rednecks rejoice.

Saw them in the 80's. They were really spectacular...and loud.

Cooper420: I swear one of them has cancer.

I know...amazes me that the boys can even hold onto a guitar for a couple hours without wheezing and passing out. Malcolm, especially, has looked like he's been standing on death's door for the past 20 years. Off stage, Angus seems verrrry mellow and almost tired, like he needs a nap. Add the fact they both smoke like friggin' chimneys to the lead exposure they suffered as children in Glasgow (from household pipes, suspected as a contributor to their diminutive size) and it's a miracle they lived past 30.

/Malcolm and Angus are the reason I started playing guitar...
//Never seen 'em live yet...

Bonehead. Rednecks listen to either country or 80s hair bands. AC/DC doesn't fit their style.

/no mullet, no meth, no big truck
//big stack o'AC/DC CDs though

You would be, assuming your being honest, the exception rather then the rule. If you are being honest then I hope you will one day discover that there is music beyond the three chord riff rock anthem. The help is out there, just ask for it.

Check my profile. I'm not an AC/DC fan exclusively. I enjoy lots of different bands.

And yet they still stomp the terra. I grew out of those boys 15 years ago...and grew back into them about 7 years ago. They are timeless

browntimmy 2008-01-12 07:45:19 AM
Yeah, they can be stale sometimes, but I think that bagpipe/guitar duet part in It's A Long Way to the Top is one of the finest moments in rock.

Another thing, I was listening to Whole Lotta Rosie recently and thinking even though it's not the most complicated song, there aren't many bands that could pull it off with the same energy and flare as AC/DC. Seriously, think of your favorite band and what a lousy job they would do trying to cover it.

dokool [TotalFark] 2008-01-12 08:04:18 AM
AC/DC fans might be interested to know that Japanese band The Beat Crusaders (probably most well-known in the US for their work being featured in the Beck anime) are doing an AC/DC tribute album, I think it comes out in March.

I heard their version of Thunderstruck at Countdown Japan the other week and it was pretty cool so I think at the very least it'll be a fun novelty buy.

dugitman [TotalFark] 2008-01-12 11:03:22 AM
I am one of the most insufferable music snobs ever...but even I acknowledge AC/DC's peerless ability to rock the fukk out.

and I too dig the heck out of the bagpipe/guitar in LWTTT, browntimmy

We used to cover that. I'm not saying we were anywhere close to their level by any means but what a fun tune to play! The crowd always liked it because that's one you never hear most bar bands even attempt.

kungfu jesus with a side of lime:

you will one day discover that there is music beyond the three chord riff rock anthem.

You will one day discover that your music taste is poorly informed. The harmonic vocabulary of a given song is just one of thousands of ways in which music can differ. Your complaint about "3 chord riff rock" is simplistic; you're objecting to an entire style by noting the commonalities that define it, rather than trying to grasp the differences.

It's a common mistake. Like you, I appreciate popular music that pushes harmonic boundaries, but I still enjoy listening to "You Shook Me All Night Long," because I accept the musical idiom within which it exists. It's fine to urge people to broaden their musical horizons, but the number of chords in the song is a tiny tiny piece of the puzzle.
