How is it that when Clinton lead the free world the best he could do was lewinski and this cheese eating surrender monkey gets a supermodel?

this is THE story right now (and for the past 2 weeks) on the news in Europe. I am sick of hearing about these two and their dumb trip to Egypt. The pregnancy part is new. Can't wait to see them on the news AGAIN tonight. sigh.

nashBridges: This man may single handedly retire every bad stereotype about France.

QFT. He doesn't smoke, he doesn't like wine, he doesn't have a hidden mistress (rather a very public g/f), he jogs every day, he doesn't bash on G.W., he's not a socialist... All the opposite of his predecessors.

Its mind boggling that he is criticized by "French intellectuals" for jogging.

I hear he jogs too, or 'fun runs', as they say in the Old Country.

Sarkozy was shattered by Cecilia's decision to leave him weeks into his presidency. He worshipped this beautiful, highly strung woman, introducing her to the world as a modern-day Jackie Kennedy.

Indeed, after their divorce in October, Sarkozy was secretly admitted to hospital, suffering from a stress-related throat abscess and a fever. He called pitifully for his wife to visit him.

This makes me feel kind of bad for the guy. If his new girlfriend really does love him back, good for him.

There's no Moral Majority in France. Or if there is, they're rightly marginalized.

I'm sure she loves being attached to a powerful man. I'm not saying she's a gold digger, but you wouldn't see her messing with this guy if he were some accountant somewhere.

So his manipulative and biatchy ex-wife dumps him, and he picks up a super model on the rebound?

Way to go, Frenchy.

"Sarkozy has opened the curtains on a country which was happily eating cheese and climbing up the backstairs to visit mistresses," says my friend gloomily. "France likes hypocrisy. It does not like sexual openness. We are not Italy."

Sarkozy, of course, has a different interpretation. "I broke with a deplorable tradition in our country, that of hypocrisy and lies," he said yesterday.

There's something in the US constitution preventing foreigners from being President, right? Do we have time to amend that, because Sarko's the man. Hell, there's a picture in the article of him wearing bluejeans and a flannel shirt in public, sell the man a handgun and I think we can call it close enough, birth certificate be damned.

/I have no idea what his actual personal politics are

Putting this in a section called politics is like calling something news just because it's about Dan Rather.

If you can't find it, look in between Bush's ass cheeks.

I agree. I had initially put it in news (re. the pregnancy) but admins thought otherwise.

Not sure if this was the Alizee thread people are referring to, but since I (and others) posted some good links in it, why not (new window).

Call me old fashioned by I find this kind of unsavory. The same as when I see the US candidates with their trophy wives. More about showing off then having a mature relationship.

Where's the love for Segolene Royal?

Cecilia is hot but ... was she crazy to begin with or did she get crazy after being philandered upon too much?

Wow, no kidding. I'd be more than happy if the fellating of Obama and the endless speculation about Hillary's tears were replaced with video of a hot brunette walking on the beach in a bikini.

What, Sarkozy is in that picture?

The news comes as Sarkozy's ex-wife Cecilia launched a blistering attack on the couple and the "slappers"fluffers that the president surrounds himself with.

FTF them
