To quote a good friend back in 84....

"You never heard Oingo Boingo? You haven't lived!".

Great band, Elfman's a damned genius.

I have to thank my wife for introducing me to Oingo Boingo back in the day.

Heard that song every night for 2 years while I worked at a brew pub. Thanks for the memories. Good times.

I heard this on the radio the other day for the first time in years. I thought "This would be a good vid to submit to Fark", but never got around to it.

Thanks subby!

Anyone catch their movie "The Forbidden Zone" on cable? Weirdest movie ever, with the Fantasy Island midget Hervé Villechaize. It was done in a 20's style, black and white.

Is that Skippy from Family Ties on the white guitar? ;) Interesting...bass played on a keytar held kinda like a sitar; the drummer appears to be using a foot pedal trigger for the snare. Wonder if this is before Rick Allen (Def Leppard) lost his arm and went that route.

I got introduced to Oingo Boingo back in '85 and still listen to 'em today. One of the most underrated bands ever IMO.

Since the drummer is wearing headphones, it's more likely he's playing along to a pre-recorded synth-drum track.

I remember him recording songs (with the boingos) specifically for movies (bachelor party, Weird science..)

But i was curious, how do you go from being in a medium-sized band (popuylarity wise) to writing scores for danny elfman ? theres a piece im missing here...

... nope, that guitar player would be Steve Bartek. He's been one of Elfman's buddies since the beginning.

Bartek's credits (new window)

/ Big time fan of the Boingos, this song, not so much.
/ Thanks for the vid anyway subbie, anybody know where it came from?

If I'm not mistaken, this song was featured at a party scene in Back to School, perhaps with Boingo playing live. Am I wrong? Crazy? Anyone else remember this?

Yeah, I remember the blond sex-tagonist doing her lame version of the cool kids dance to it in Back to School...

I like this comment from the utube posts:
"I would give my left nut to go back in time with a fat knot of yay yo and see these guys in their prime."

considering Danny Elfman is the one writing the scores... but yeah I get what you mean. a lot of it just comes down to having someone like you and ask if you can do something for them. And once you do it, and do a good job, here comes the work.

you are not wrong at all :D

Being a freakin' genius doesn't hurt. His scores are insane.
