i'll never get over the fact that even though this song is clearly about Gay Sex, it was the most popular song in America for what seemed like my entire elementary school career.

maybe our '80s forefathers were more tolerant than we give them credit for?

Look at Culture Club/Boy George. I used to love that as a little boy. Also Queen and Cyndi Lauper. Hmmmm.

Version 2 (new window), the less gay version from one of my favorite movies. It does contain a brief flash of Melanie Griffith's bare butt cheeks so might be considered slightly nsfw.

Easy fix: "Get off my lawn, Mary."

I never got the lyric, "Relax, don't do it/when you want to sock it to it/Relax/dont do it/when you want to come..."

What was he telling us to do? Come? Not come?

Gunny Highway: "Get off my lawn" is getting a little bit played out.

But, it's something an old person might say! He'd say "Get off my lawn, you kids, for I am of a different generation from yours, and as a property owner am none too pleased at the presence of you young troublemakers and layabouts!" So, anything that is old can be said to be shouting "get off my lawn", or "my lawn, get you off it", or even "lawn. you. off.", as it were, and it's simply hilarious! Not to me, mind you, but maybe to someone who likes "Attack of the Show" it is.

darch: What was he telling us to do? Come? Not come?

He's telling us to stop masturbating into our socks. Perhaps he owns stock in Kleenex.

Hey, I think everyone in that band was gay. So, yeah, serves to reason that their videos might be a little gay too.

Let's also not forget FGTH's hilarious appearance in Brian De Palma's BODY DOUBLE.

/Two Tribes video freaked me out as a kid for some reason.

radioman_ 2008-01-10 11:02:39 PM
Welcome to the Pleasuredome is still one of the best recorded CDs ever. Trevor Horn produced it and it remains the first thing I throw on to show off my system to newcomers. How Horn got such a rich sound on a DDD recording still amazes me. The man is a genius in the studio.

I bought the first portable CD player way back when (at Crazy Eddie's). The rechargeable battery was this ridiculous heavy case the player sat in. We've come a long way. I'd walk around town wearing big studio headphones listening to Frankie and muttering random lines from Relax.

There's a OOP CD EP with a whole bunch of Relax remixes on it. I've sampled the shiat out of that puppy. If you like the song it's worth finding.

Sure, the video is Gay City, Arizona. Who cares? They were a gay dance band. You were expecting bikini girls? I'm sorry Holly got the yirus. He seems like a nice enough guy.
