Great band. Shame they didn't make it bigger.

Ha! The Producers! Well, subby...I did party with the keyboardist. OK, actually, I was in close proximity to the keyboardist and his pals while I was partying at some bar in Buckhead once...but dammit, that's close enough.

And a girl I worked with dated the bass player once or twice.

Yeah, too bad they didn't make it. Too much ego & tension between the two singer/songwriters. Sad story, but an old story.

My first thought on reading the headline was "The Producers?"

Can't believe I was right.

The evolution of sugar pop: 80-81 The Producers, 82-84 Tears For Fears, 85-87 The Outfield, 88-89 Dreams So Real, 90-93 Gin Blossoms. Then Nirvana killed it.

I had a friend in high school who used to prematurely ejaculate when he thought about sex too much. We used to get him fired up by talking about sex around him and we knew it was "coming" from the hip motions he made... he made motions just like the keyboardist from this band when he started getting worked up.

Actually he used Oberheim keyboards. The keyboard in this video was a prototype that never worked properly.

The Producers did a concert in my area in the early 80's. We got to the venue really early and ordered lunch so we could watch the load in- and the club management wanted to kick us out. Band's tour manager said "no" and invited us to sit with them while the band members had their lunch. I sat across from the keyboard player and we talked synths- and then he took me up on stage and hung that Oberheim controller around my neck. Weighed about 50 pounds. I played She Sheila for him on it and my knees were about buckling by the time I got to the chorus. We got to stay for the sound check and they did She Sheila- keyboard player had me play it so he could listen from the house. Pretty exciting for a local boy...

i'm just here to point out that the oberheim in question weighed about as much as a yugo. the yugo got better gas milage, though.

the producers were a pretty tight pop band. i think i had this video on an old VHS tape... the old style, the double size broadcast standard. the vcr that played it got way, way worse gas milage than the oberheim.

my cs-80 was worse. it took two guys to move, and wouldn't stay in tune.

I met the guitarist outside an Atlanta (Smyrna) theater after the showing of Star Trek II. He was a nice regular geek guy.

Pretty tight band. They still play occasionally.

I still wanna party with it.
