(YouTube) Video David Bowie turns 61 today. Awesome 1973 video for "Life on Mars," fortunately shot just before the horrific 1974 eye shadow shortage   (youtube.com) divider line 40

I'm floating in a most peculiar way and the stars look very different today, so I'm really getting a kick out of this.

happy birthday funny clown suit man.

The BBC show Life On Mars got me back into Bowies music after years. I hope all is well after his health problems last year. Heart attack if I recall.

That's when he made The Man Who Fell To Earth. One of the weirdest movies I've ever seen.

I will listen to Bowie all day to celebrate. And maybe make a pass at someone of indeterminate gender.

A few favorites... (all pops)

The original promo film for Space Oddity

On the Dick Cavett Show: Young Americans

On the Heroes Tour, with Adrian Belew on guitar: Suffragette City. I saw him on this tour (the night after seeing Lou Reed); he did a set of stuff from Low and Heroes, then came back for a set of "hits" -- pretty great stuff. I've got a 45 of him doing "Heroes" in German.

Always like his collaboration with Queen on Under Pressure. Great video, too.

Funny clip of Iggy being interviewed by Dinah Shore with Bowie cracking up in the background. Can't find any complete clips of them performing there -- they did a great version of "Funtime."

That original Space Oddity is so much more upbeat than the one I have off a greatest hits album. I'm kind of a young Bowie fan, liked his stuff, saw Labyrinth and fell in love(he's my man crush, and I'm pretty damn straight otherwise). *cough*

But yeah, once I start getting my money in tech school, its going to buying the rest of his albums.

Thanks for the links.

Rock Mullet I think is the proper term.

But how fitting, I'm wearing my David Bowie shirt today.

Let's Dance is a good dance record, Tonight and Never Let Me Down are pretty much god awful exception of a few tracks like Loving the Alien and Day in, Day out.

However Black Tie, White Noise is decent and everything from 1993-the present is fantastic.

The Buddha of Suburbia, Outside, Earthling, Hours, Heathen, and Reality are all really good albums. Outside, Earthling, and Hours didn't sell well as it was fashionable to dislike Bowie in the 90s. If you give his recent albums a few listens it's really apparent how good they are. I actually prefer alot of his newer stuff to his 70s stuff.

I bet you didnt even bother to see it 10 times or more.
Probably my favorite too.

Have all you Bowie fans seen Life Aquatic?
Talk about an unexpected bonus...
