Why did the two Iraqi soldiers sacrifice themselves?

I mean, they may be two of the remaining twelve or so Christians in Iraq after this highly successful and justified war, but most likely they were Muslims.

Those gentlemen were very heroic, and I don't want to take away the gift they gave to everyone who lived, but I'm also very happy they were not our boys.
