Oh, shut the fark up. Do they not sell brown hair dye where you live?

joeycolby 2008-01-06 12:48:37 PM
I don't understand why they dyed it the second time. 8-10 washes and it would have been gone.

Well that's a given. Still, I think it's funny that they called the newspaper over the weekend before she has a chance to get in trouble tomorrow.

Having been a teenage girl who frequently dyed her hair, with occasionally horrific results, I find it hard to believe that this girl would stop trying to get it right and willingly go to school with a hair color that was anything less than exactly what she wanted. I know a girl who had her mom call her in sick because of a bad perm. I think the funky color was on purpose and the story came after she got busted. And the school administrators are asshats for caring about and taking action against a kid's farking hair color.

And most hair dye boxes have warnings about the color lasting longer on extremely light blonde hair. Many say not to use it on light blonde hair at all.

school administrators really need to stop worrying so much about what a student's hair is like, and should worry more about whether or not the kids are actually learning.

That is why you don't dye your own hair if you don't know what you're doing.

Exactly. The schools are there to teach, not to tell people what to wear.

The girl probably attends a school which requires uniforms.

So anything that makes her stand out is a huge 'no no'.

But of course, school s all about conformity nowadays, you don't go to school to actually learn anything.

Reality disagrees with you. We tell kids what to wear, what to eat and how to behave. Don't run, don't walk, stay off the grass. Repect authority, don't question, repeat what you're told when you're told to repeat it. Buy the right products, individualism is scary, look like everyone else and you'll be free.

That's our future.

Just because schools have become about indoctrination doesn't mean they're supposed to be.

No, not likely. Most schools have dress codes banning any kind of rampant "individuality" citing that it is "distracting."

deadboy 2008-01-06 06:12:37 PM
we had a similar "issue" at our school. One of my friends dyed his hair purple for class photos, they kicked him out. The next day half the school showed up with purple hair in protest. The day after that they stopped anyone from entering the building w/ dyed hair. Media got invovled, parents go involved, and the school system was basically told to STFU and get on w/ teaching.

Which was thankfully the correct outcome.

Guntram Shatterhand 2008-01-06 06:14:10 PM
Couldn't she have gone to any hairdresser to dye it back to normal (until it grows out)? Why is this even a concern?

When did school administrators start caring about hair color? I was in high school 92 to 96 and they didn't care at all, pink hair, green hair, purple hair, whatever.

Also, I have to wonder, are girls in these authoritarian schools allowed to shave their head bald? What do the administrators do then, suspend them until it grows long again?

I went to school with a couple of goth kids and nobody ever gave their image a second thought. One kid always wore a suit to school and it was very disruptive what with all the teasing he went through. School officials need to get their priorities straight.

I could barely walk down a hallway in our HS without seeing dyed hair. The vast majority of places are getting more and more progressive; that's the nature of society. Don't go all Emo because one place in one town got biatchy in an effort to go against societal trends.

...or go Emo. Y'know, what ever floats your boat. Just don't get blood on my suede shoes.

No, no it doesn't. If someone's clothes or hair are distracting someone, then that someone has been sorely failed by the school(s) they have attended.

Oh yeah, because when this guy I knew in High School dyed his hair from brown to blonde, it totally prevented me from being able to learn anything, ever again.

Get real. It's hair color. It could be purple with pink stripes and it won't affect the ability of children to learn one bit.

This has nothing to do with the children's ability to learn. This has everything to do with public schools turning into little fiefdoms run by tyrants who don't care whether children learn or not, they just want people to respect their 2 inch cock.

If you think those ideas came from that show, you really need to watch less tv and read a book, listen to music etc.

A normal person should not be distracted by hair or clothes. Class managed to proceed normally even during Halloween, when most people dressed in costume. If someone is distracted by hair color so much that it interferes with their academics, that's his or her problem.
