But have you ever tried it on a Krabby Patty?

Cute headline. I like your dialect. But there's no way I'm eating that.

Yes, jellyfish is a culinary multi-tasker. But can it beat bacon in terms of sheer awesome-ness? I don't think so.

my wife still gets jittery around the ocean.

because she saw Jaws 20 years ago.

and by the same token there is not a creature in the sea that doesn't feel the same way about the Chinese/Japanese... is there nothing that can swim that they won't eat?

even fugu! cook it wrong, you die.

You left out the common link in the headline, smitty: after you do any of these things to jellyfish, you then toss them into the trash and go get some real fish to eat.

It's like eating a boiled plastic bag. No joke. Farking nasty.

Hmm. Doesn't sound that bad. Maybe worth trying.

AlphaNumericus 2008-01-06 12:18:40 PM
We routinely get jellyfish at Chinese restaurants (need to be authentic). Good stuff!!!

jjorsett 2008-01-06 12:20:22 PM
You can do all those things to dogshiat too. Doesn't mean you should.

In South Korea, I've eaten jellyfish prepared in numerous ways. I'm not a fan. If it came down to a contest between that or licking the sun, I would take the jellyfish... but I'd have to think about it for a minute.

Jelly fish. The other transparent meat.

animalmagnet 2008-01-06 12:29:53 PM
I can't tell one kind of jellyfish from another, but the few times I have tried to pick one up in a landing net, it just went right through the holes.

Jellyfish has the texture of raw skin. It's nasty and unfit for human consumption. You could have a similar meal, with more nutrition, by eating a bowl of lambskin condoms.

/the above comment does not reflect actual experience, except for the part about the texture of jellyfish. Please carry on.

emerson7 2008-01-06 12:35:35 PM
not that there's anything wrong with it, but i cannot help being concerned over humans subsisting lower and lower on the food chain.

well i'm going to have to chime in on this wonderful thread about the nastiest creature in the sea. no, scratch that. i would think that the sea cucumber is the nastiest(expels it's intestines when attacked).

i've eaten jellyfish on more than a couple occasions and i'm going to go with the "lambskin condoms would be better" side.

mmmmmmm......lambskin condoms.
