It was kinda interesting. Edwards was clearly on Obama's side, and Richardson seemed to be trying to line himself up to defend Hillary.

Looks to be who do you want as a ticket: Obama/Edwards or Clinton/Richardson.

I read a column recently, I think in Newsweek, where the writer claimed an Edwards campaign insider told him that if Edwards dropped out, he'd throw his support to Obama. Who the fark knows if that's true, but if it is, it could be a big boost for Obama.

If Edwards were to drop out tomorrow and do that, the primaries would effectively be over for Clinton. Edwards' actual hope is that he can campaign hard in New Hampshire and get first or second. But more importantly he wants to deliver another third place result to Hillary.

Edwards' theory is that if Hillary drops out, more of her supporters will go to him than to any other remaining candidate... so he is trying his hardest to show her the door. Unfortunately Edwards does not have a lot of time to get this done.

I'm seriously hoping someone would decide to drop out in a blaze of glory and call Hilldog a biatch in the middle of a debate. Or better yet...

Ok, wow, so i was gonna post the pic of the cats, but the first GIS result for "Shut Your Whore Mouth When the Men Are Talking" is a pic of Hillary, thats so full of win.

Haha, you really dont need a campaign insider to see that Edwards would certainly favor Obama.

It'll be interesting to see how Edwards handles the next few weeks. It's basically a war of attrition with Clinton to see who will have to drop out first, and I don't think he can win this one. His only real shot at the nomination is for Clinton to call it quits and him to pick up a majority of her former supporters, which is quite a longshot. Since I don't see Clinton dropping out until the absolute end, what will really matter is when he decides to throw in the towel. If he sticks around through Super Tuesday there's a very good chance that he'll draw enough votes away from Obama to give Clinton the nomination. However, if he drops out sometime after NH and/or SC but before Feb 5 then I'd guess about 65-70% of his supporters will head over to the Obama camp and make a win for Obama almost certain.

If he doesn't get a close second place in NH (it isn't looking very likely) then he'll probably drop out, and will almost certainly drop if he comes in third by any margin. He's too low on funds to really keep going and probably realizes that dropping out then would be the best way to keep Hillary from winning.

FTFA The back and forth got so heated that fourth place candidate Bill Richardson quipped, "I've been in hostile negotiations that are a lot more civil than this."

Um, wouldn't that be hostage negotiations, since Richardson did those? I'm sure that's what I heard during the debate.

/sorry to add the "back and forth" image to the tag team image

CitizenjaQ 2008-01-06 07:42:53 AM
FTFA:Obama seemed comfortable enough to take a shot at Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor, who is torn between endorsing him or Clinton and has contributed to both of their campaigns. Citing his desire to raise the cap on the payroll tax, he used Buffett as an example of those who pay too little payroll tax.

Since Buffett himself has made this point, I don't think this counts as a "shot" at him.

I think that if such a video existed, and if it got leaked to the public and seen by a wide audience... that Obama would still get the nomination (unless his rod is horribly misshapen or has big warts on it or something).

What seemed interesting to me was watching Bill Richardson. He obviously knows that he'll never get the presidential nomination, so he's angling to be vp.

Just my take on it. Anybody else get that vibe?

Ex Parte Gilligan 2008-01-06 01:52:09 PM
Cyno01: "I can has veepee?"

I just cannot see Edwards getting that nomination. That would also be unprecedented if he were to run for VP again, yes?

/ Wonders which one got Clinton's poop chute when they tagged her.

Probably because he know's he's the most skilled and qualified person in the race in either party and no one is biting.

THAT.

Richardson's actually focused on the issues instead of on the other candidates. He has some good ideas but, unfortuanately, they're too sane and sensible to get him much coverage.
