Totally awesome. I wish I would have thought of that.

Followup: Students labeled terrorists and sent to Gitmo.

Damn. Too bad I grew up in Savannah. That would have totally rocked.

Good times.

Once during a bad cold spell some people I know unplugged all the bus engine heaters over night. The entire district had the next day off when the buses wouldn't start.

Tsh, I grew up in Marquette, MI (The U.P.), 4'-6' snowbanks in front of the door were expected. You had to tunnel your way into school everyday. They didn't cancel school fer nothin'.

randomizetimer [TotalFark] 2008-01-05 04:31:17 PM
Very smart kids!

LordPistachio 2008-01-05 04:31:26 PM
Now that's a great prank. Effective, but no permanent harm done.

DaCricket [TotalFark] 2008-01-05 04:33:59 PM
Sweet.

The best kind of prank. Nobody hurt and no permanent damage and everyone gets a day off.

Bathroom Gumshoe 2008-01-05 04:47:43 PM
Back in my day we'd walk sementy kilometers through 4'6" snowbanks wearing only two hot potatoes. And all the locks were urine-activated.

SphericalTime [TotalFark] 2008-01-05 04:56:57 PM
That's actually a pretty good prank. No permanent damage, nobody hurt, no live animals. Sounds like a plan to me.

Sucks to be them when they add an extra day at the end of the year!

Or do high schools nowadays have AC in them? We never did back in 98-02 (Chicago public school).

Thosw 2008-01-05 06:09:00 PM
It's only cool until they realize they'll have to make it up later in the year.

mark12A 2008-01-05 06:09:23 PM

Thosw: It's only cool until they realize they'll have to make it up later in the year.

Does it really make a difference to add a day to the school year?

And besides, most schools have five snow days built into the schedule.

I Said [TotalFark] 2008-01-05 06:12:12 PM
Nice work kids.

FTA: Principal John Drisko expects the culprits will be identified through the school's rumor mill and surveillance cameras in and around the school.

And remember . . .
Snitches get stitches

mark12A: And the evidence melts. Excellent.

Well, FTA, they think they can easily convict them: "the culprits will be identified through the school's rumor mill ...".

With this kind of evidence it will be an open and shut case.

No snow days where I live. Not sure if I should curse my home, or be thankful (because snow is freaking cold.)

What's up with the love on Fark tonight? Or am I happening to go into the only threads that are full of win?

/I'm really not complaining, I'm actually harboring a lot of jealousy- that I went to high school in FL (there's a long story waiting to happen) where we have no snow, and that I didn't think of this

fanbladesaresharp 2008-01-05 06:14:15 PM
LordPistachio: Now that's a great prank. Effective, but no permanent harm done.

Except when they're 28 and throw a wrench into high speed machinery so they can get a couple days off from work.

/guy at work did that to a printing press a month ago and now has EVERY day off.
//was funny when you're a kids, now, not so much.

I'm sure theres a zero-tolerance policy for that somewhere...did wish I would of thought about this when I was younger...

cgraves67 2008-01-05 06:16:03 PM
Oh man, I totally wanted to do that when I was in high school, but I could never round up enough people with the guts to pull it off.

darkscout 2008-01-05 06:16:46 PM
I went to a small private college for 2 years. So small that it only had one entrance. I've heard a similar story.

The only day that school had been canceled in the school's history was back in the 80s or so. A big snow storm came up and being an engineering college students used 5 gallon buckets and built a barricade at the only entrance. Then hosed the whole thing down.

I should have been born in the 50s. I'd probably have never been arrested and have much better stories to tell.

/So kids, this one time I was walking home hammered from the bar. And the cops picked me up.
//Spent the night in jail.
///No punch line.

I live in Marquette and go to MSHS and I call bullshiat.

Although this isn't going to stop me from trying to make artificial ones. And by me I mean some group of troublemakers.

In high school, a student had his car covered in flour right before it rained. Even after he managed to clean it off, flour still came out of the vents every time he turned on the air conditioner.

Seems like a lot of work just to get the day off school.

Must have taken them a few hours depending on how many perps there were.

When you think about it, that is a rather efficent and effective system. Let a kid out of classes for a couple Fridays and they'll sing like canaries.

CreepyBasementGuy 2008-01-05 06:21:30 PM
It sounds like more work was done to get out of school than actually going to school, plus it had to be done during when the school was closed.

/need to pay more attention in math class dudes
//real snow days kick ass tho

Too bad that it still won't matter to the uptight school administrator(s) who will find that the most suitable punishment for this crime will be suspension at the very least.

This is a great prank and if I knew my kid had pulled this off my advice would be to keep his mouth shut and make sure his accomplices do the same.

BillArr 2008-01-05 06:21:53 PM
That is freaking hilarious....congrats...

Now if they would have only destroyed the 1984 security cameras in the process....I can't blame them for not wanting to go to prison ...err...school every day.

TsuZi, you are correct that they don't cancel school for anything though.

Every time we get a snow day it seems like they just gave it to us. Then there are days where we all barely make it to school without any major injuries and we have to sit through the day.

I could probably count all of our snow days since I've lived here (last five years) on one and a half hands.
