FTA: "an Edwards campaign ambassador approaches. "What do you guys hang from the ladders at firefighters' funerals?" he asked the men in yellow. An awkward moment ensues. "The American flag!" he answers his own question. Then, he points right at Mrs. Sorenson (an Obama precinct captain), and declares: "Obama doesn't salute the American flag." For good measure, he adds that Obama was sworn in to the Senate on the Koran."

That is classy... when the truth isn't sexy enough you can always make crazy shiat up.

And he refuses to wear a Chinese-made American flag lapel pin!

How can this man possibly be presidential material?

Here in Canada, I don't think I've ever seen a single politician - or anyone for that matter - saluting the flag with the exception of World War vets. Maybe it's because we've only had it for 40 years, but it just doesn't seem to be the sacred object that the American flag is.

Obsession with patriotic symbols is the mark of people who don't have real patriotism.

Hillary got her ass handed to her in Iowa, and some of her comments afterwards were pretty snippy. Much to my surprise, we might see Obama get the top spot in the convention and win the party nomination. Which would piss off Hillary to no end, as well as kicking Sharpton and Jesse Jackson in the 'nads. Might be worth it for that alone, but if I were Obama i'd start watching for assasination attempts from his own party.

All of which is academic at this point tho - it's still too early to say for sure who is going to be the candidate for either party. But Hillary can't be at all pleased with how this fight is turning out.

Afternoon_Delight: Maybe the American flag represents just a little bit more than the Canadian flag does.

Of course, to leftists, the US flag is an offensive hate symbol anyway. A smug, arrogant liberal has no use for it. But young angry leftists and muslim mobs do enjoy burning it.

It's pretty obvious that B. Hussein Obama thinks of the flag as a childish, annoying symbol - beneath someone of his stature and intellect in this modern day. That doesn't make him unusual. Rather, it marks him as the perfect figurehead for modern left-wing thought.

Good Lord...WTF are these people stretching so far for? The trite innocuous crap they are coming up shows little more than their willingness to to out themselves as ass-backward yokels.

What's next?

"HE DOESN'T LIKE CELERY IN HIS STUFFING!!!!"
"HE DOESN'T DOUBLE DOWN ON ELEVEN!!!"
"HE WEARS WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY!"

I mean, at the very least come up with something original or at least mildly bizarre. How about:

He has a tail and is actually from the third moon of Neptune

He once pulled out an old lady's chair out from underneath her...just to watch her fall.

HUSSEIN!
HUSSEIN!!!

Every time some total douche slips that into a comment I am reminded how desperate and pathetic the neocons are. The best you can do is attack a middle name given to him by someone else? I have never witnessed more FAIL in a political thread.

A President who wipes his ass with the Constitution? No prob.
A candidate with a funny middle name who doesn't wear a lapel pin? OMFG!! PROBLEM! PROBLEM!!

B Hussein ObamaOsama must be doing something right if Edwards supporters are resorting to GOP tactics to try to get the best of him. And what's funniest about the whole thing is that it's not really very damaging at all, especially on the Democrat side. Sure, the Republican base would be livid about this, but they're all racist redneck morans anyhow. I have a feeling this kind of attack won't work around for the more educated on the left.

The point of the story is that the lies are being repeated by his democratic rival's campaign. That actually does matter to some degree.

Zarkin Frood [TotalFark] 2008-01-05 03:22:48 PM
Ya know, I'm reminded of something... what if, say, someone ran for president of France. And his name was something that the French were unfamiliar with, like Charles Ramirez.

They would boot up their computers and see that there was a serial killer with the last name Ramirez and another one with the first name Charles and their extremist politicians would brand the guy a murderer, no matter how stellar his voting record.

It's like McLovin said in Superbad, "Muhammed is the most common name in the world." And Hussein is also common. But it's like comparing John to Muhammed and Richard to Hussein.

Sit on that one for a while.

From my understanding, it wasn't anyone from Edward's campaign that said it.
It was some Douchy McDoucherson holding an Edwards sign (which is what the caucus supporters amount to).
It's just some dude with AOL dial-up who opens every "FWD:FwdFwd:FWD-Fwd-RE:" that lands in his inbox and believes it wholeheartedly."

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of the race found Obama with 37% of the vote while Clinton earns 27%. John Edwards is the only other candidate in double digits, with 19% support. Bill Richardson is the choice for 8%."

Obama will get the nod. He's got the ability to sway Republican voters and Independents. I was listening to the radio yesterday and was amazed at all of the Republicans who called in and said they would vote for Obama. This is what our country needs. We cannot continue to be polarized like we are.

Bickering over lapel pins? Calling everyone a terrorist? America's talking heads have stooped to the level of 10th grade girls and the people who listen to them are like the impressionable 9th graders who follow the older girls around mimicking them and wanting to be cool.

Of course, to leftists, the US flag is an offensive hate symbol anyway. A smug, arrogant liberal has no use for it. But young angry leftists and muslim mobs do enjoy burning it.

Of course, to rightists, the US flag is the most holy symbol in the world. A smug, arrogant conservative worships it like a golden calf. But old, bitter rightists and the Christian Taliban will be certain to crucify anyone who dares offend their Fabric Allah. Made in China of course.

It's pretty obvious that B. Hussein Obama thinks of the flag as a childish, annoying symbol - beneath someone of his stature and intellect in this modern day. That doesn't make him unusual. Rather, it marks him as the perfect figurehead for modern left-wing thought.

It's pretty obvious that Mike Suckabee/9u11ani/Ron Fail/Mitt Mormony thinks of the flag as more important than the actual Constitution, laws of the nation, or civil rights. That doesn't make them unusual, it makes them as the perfect figureheads for modern right-wing "thought"

That was fun. Can we go again?

Sorry, I used to support Obama, but after watching footage of him, I noticed something: he both signs his name with his left hand and shoots a basketball with his left hand. I personally don't think this is acceptable, and I'm not ready to vote for a left-handed handmonger.

DO NOT VOTE OBAMA unless you want to be wearing left-handed gloves, writing on left-handed desks and more.

Knobbs 2008-01-05 04:00:51 PM
Not much different than Hillary's group's tactics at my caucus. After the non-viables were decided, her supporters immediately went over to them and started saying anything they could to get people over. One was a woman who claimed she had gotten a text message from Joe Biden's campain--they realied they were not viable and wanted all his supporters to vote for Hillary.

Classy.

fillahbuster 2008-01-05 04:01:39 PM
The best thing I like about Obama is watching Freepers trying to generate a coherent narative.

"Barack Osama is a flaming liberal that will legalize gay marriage and provide abortion on demand and is also a crypto-muslim who will implement Sharia law as soon as he is elected"

What?

I've been very surprised by the types of people who secretly support Obama. I've spoken to lots of hardcore right wing nuts, Libertarian fruitcakes, and even Bush voters who've said they wouldn't mind Obama because he seems like he would be good for the government as a whole. He has support nearly across the board. The only thing that irks me about him is that he feels the need to talk about religion.
