Think about it -- these are people that have been taken for granted by the Republican establishment, exploited and overworked, only to receive crumbs and empty rhetoric in return. Sick of being marginalized except when needed (election time), they have taken matters into their own hands and -- without money or "professional" organization, propelled their candidate (one of their own) to victory.

Yes, just like "our very own people-powered movement" except for the minor difference that it actually worked.

I have a feeling you're going to see a lot more of that this year, and then God willing, we'll start to have a complete turnover in D.C. over the next decade or so. I feel bad for Republicans and Democrats who think that any presently elected official cares about them for anything other than a vote.

If there's been one thing you can say about the Republicans the last 7 years its been their ability to fall into line when their masters say jump. Its good to see a little disarray in the well oiled elephant. Me just thinks that Kos is trying to fuel the fires. Now when you start seeing Dem supporters throwing money and further support Huckster's way then it will be truly Rovian.

They're essentially right, and I'm glad. I won't vote for Huckabee, but I could live with it if he won. More than I can say for any other GOP candidate--the rest of them suck.

What would a GOP hit squad use on Huckabee ? I don't have a clue. I don't think the GOP "establishment" can do anything about Huckabee except continue to fellate McCain and pray (but not to Huckabee's personal savior) that he has his own macaca-moment.

Nice response, corporations have become the boogieman in modern progressive politics. It seems a bunch of people who were taught in college by a bunch of hippie retreads who are stuck in an era long past (students call these people professors) that evil rich white men are ruling the world and that corporations are looking to screw over anyone and everyone, enslaving them for profit. These people are regurgitating this neo-communist pabulum in a feeble attempt to appear enlightened. A company is just a group of people serving a need that society has deemed worthy of rewarding with profits. If one group called a special interest, another called a company, and another called a volunteer organization and all of the above try to change policy, are they all not just groups of people trying to make the world reflect their own personal values? With out looking at the specific groups is it not only arrogant but also intellectually vacant to place judgment upon them and even if there are some which are corrupt is it not folly to condemn one for the actions of another? Evil corporations are running the American political system, really? Is that who to blame things on, really?
