I really didn't care for it... However, I am a huge Neil Young fan and that song is farking awesome.

What is that, like two octaves up?

Didn't care for it. I also don't care for the studio version (James Taylor on banjo? What?), but the Massey Hall version has been one of my favorite tracks for years.

1. Would hit it. ( And no, I don't know how old she is, nor do I care, nor do I care if you think that's "sick", I'd still hit it).

2. She needs to break away from her "friends and cousins" backup band, get some professional instruction/direction before she wastes her talent. Whether you like it or not, staying on key 2 octaves up takes talent that a lot of pro singers don't have.

No. No one bests Shakey on that song. No one. And not a dame, that's for sure.

Best cover of Young's song I will hear today, this week, this month, this year. Still not even in the same league as the original or the skill it takes to WRITE a song. She still a cutie with a good voice but needs to prove she can write songs.

That's crap.

I'm only here to get directions on how to get away from here.

Thanks, TheDuderino

given that this was recorded at Berklee Cafe in Boston my guess is that she and some of the band are music students at Berklee

and i agree - she has a better voice than most pro singers, and far better than anything American Idol has produced

She sounds like she's on helium - FAIL.

Berklee chicks are teh hawt.. They don't seem to have as big of hair as they did in 1989, I've noticed.

The Wailin' Jennys do a better version.

Good voice, so-so song;

(sick of the deification of Neil)

BAD.

These "Cafe Shows" happen pretty frequently at Berklee. My brother graduated from there and played in a few of them.

I think it's a requirement for the a lot of performance degrees.

Hey smitty - Bob Dylan says you FAIL... and I don't even care for his version much either.

But that chick? FARKING AWFUL. She sucked more than my mom when the ships came in. Her performance stunk more than Lindsey Lohan's diaphram. She was worse than Hitler eating soylent matzoh.

See, what I'm getting at here is her cover was poorly executed in every way... These similes doing anything for ya?

unfarkingbelievable: She sounds like she's on helium - FAIL.

I was just wondering if anyone knew the word "shrill".

Good song, bad rendition.

John Stamos 2008-01-02 04:05:59 AM
The Wailing Jennies do a version of that song that is about eleventy billion times better than that.

rubber froggie 2008-01-02 10:02:23 AM
I'd much prefer the original.

Corvus 2008-01-02 02:19:18 PM
See the whole thing about Neil Young is he has kind of an edge.

He does not have a "pretty" voice. It has a roughness that creates a tension to his songs that makes it interesting.

This rendition takes that roughness out of the song. So it loses the characteristics that makes it interesting.

ned3000 2008-01-05 02:44:04 PM
As someone who's seen a good number of Berklee caf shows (I guess you could say I'm getting a kick out of some of these replies) That was very nice.

Usually that venue is reserved for people with little to no talent.

Thresher 2008-01-06 01:57:01 PM
FANTASTIC! No hating here! Wow.
