I'm guessing it was a short honeymoon.

If that was me in the back seat I would have tipped him extra.

However, I have an adrenalin addiction, so I may not be the best person to ask about this.

LowbrowDeluxe 2007-12-30 03:03:04 PM
Did he ask the newlyweds to hold his beer and watch this?

Oh, it's not the speed really so much, I just wish I hadn't drunk all that cough syrup this morning.

They probably didn't even notice.

Wait, they arrest people for speeding in NZ? Or is it just because he went way faster than the speed limit? The article made it sound like they arrest everyone who's caught speeding, so I'm confused.

Drag racing in my opinion is the race to a quicker Darwin-approved death. It's stupid but what makes it worse is how these two innocents would have been killed with him, and that would ruin the fun.

WTF is a "P-Plater"?

I think it's supposed to show your lack of experience at driving.

I sure as hell wouldn't have put up with that Tomfoolery either.

Not his fault, the driver just kept hearing the bride saying "faster faster"

Correct. The "P" stands for "Probationary". In many countries (and in several US states as well), a teenager's first license comes with special restrictions. These restrictions may include a limit on the number of passengers, not allowing the driver to have *any* measurable blood alcohol content, extra penalties for moving violations, etc. The driver may also have to put a special plate on their car marking them as having a probationary license. In this case, that plate is a big red letter "P".

Stupid-ass news monkeys. There's a big difference between drag racing and street racing.

It's only an XR8... the wedding car of choice for Bogans.

A classy bogan goes for the Holden option

From TFA:
When their ride slowed suddenly, they realised an unmarked police car had been travelling behind the bridal car, a rented Holden Caprice, and allegedly caught it speeding 70km/h over the speed limit.

That'll teach me to not read TFA

/I'm a dumbass, I know
//They's still be Bogans, just classier

Potent_Potable 2007-12-30 03:56:00 PM
They were only going roughly 80mph.... I average that to work on an illinois highway everyday. In fact the flow of traffic averages that speed.

Whats the big deal here Aussies? Famous for your big beer, but sissies when it comes to cars and speed? Heck, you even have more open roads that we do...

Yea, I am going to start a flame war here, because after this shiat you can't tell us that you're tougher because you play rugby. Which is pretty gay compared to American Football.

TFA:130km/h in a 60km/h zone
That's the problem... it was in a residential area. 60kph is the residential limit for a lot of australia (or 50kph in some states). So he was going double the posted speed limit...

Some states have automatic vehicle confiscation for stuff like that

If it was the open road, this wouldn't be news.

Late again. Dang.

I was betting this would also be a case of "drink driving" since they were leaving a wedding reception...

It doesn't make much sense to me why a "P" plater would be allowed to be a commercial driver.

Seems odd that you can have a "P" plate, and at the same time be a professional driver.

BatGuano 2007-12-30 06:37:23 PM
The article makes it sound like the cops pigs took the car and left the newlyweds standing by the side of the road not cool even if they were bogans.

Some Bogan goodness from an earlier fark thread

NathanO 2007-12-30 09:30:37 PM
I saw this on the news. I am pretty sure the cops did impound the car immediately. But then the cops took the newlyweds for a drive to wherever they were going.

Very first bride and groom I took from their reception to their hotel decided they had to be classy and screw in the limo. Unfortunately, no cameras....

Considering how much a limo costs, they should be able to fark in it if they want. It probably cost them more than their hotel room. Plus, how often do you get the chance?
