Meh.
The family attempted to stop deputies from arresting a relative, which led to the situation spiraling out of control.
Well, if junior is banned from the mall then he should be arrested. If the family obstructed officers...well too frickin' bad.

z_gringo: What a bunch of crap.. Why didn't they just ask the people to leave?

They did. The 20-year-old asshat was banned for violating "Rules of Common Courtesy". The cops were called to enforce the ban. The family interfered with the arrest of said asshat.

Obviously these idiots never watched Chris Rock's "How not to get arrested by the po-lice". When a cop tells you to do something, shut your mouth and do it, because after that any thing you say or do will be held against you. If you have a beef with a cop, the street isn't the place to resolve it. You will lose.

Frantz Leger's cousin, Alain Oidge, 19, was charged with trespassing, resisting and officer without violence and disorderly conduct.

I don't mean to take the family's side, but all of this guy's charges sound like they boil down to "contempt of cop", a concept that pisses me off almost as much as people who don't signal lane changes on the highway.

They say sheriff's deputies overreacted with not just the force of their numbers but also with sheer force.

so sunday is a day off for editors?

Mall is retarded.

The family got involved and tried to intervene and tried to resist the officers and that's why they were subsequently arrested.
Family is retarded.

Palm Beach County sheriff's Lt. Jay Hart is one of the reasons there's a Florida tag

According to the Urban Dictionary, "Prison Pants" kinda makes me wonder why this fad has caught on.

Essentially, their explanation is that wearing the pants low, would signify to other prisoners that the wearer was interested in being someone's "receptor".

I had heard that this is the history of the "fashion statement" and wonder if it is true.

Could be there, Eric, but the cop is going home after work. The other asshole has to bond out to go home. Who's the bigger asshole again?

Okay. It sure looks to me like everyone involved were acting like assholes.

I was just curious what Mercurius meant by tossing in the lane change reference. Is Mercurius really PO'd at people changing lanes or is it that the person arrested didn't do anything more serious than changing lanes without using a blinker?

And here in America, we enforce rules of common decency! So make sure that you are properly attired before leaving the house. Get a haircut, shave, fix your hair in an approved style (no funky colors!). Don't smoke, don't drink, walk - don't run, stay off the grass. And if you step out of line you get to spend the night in jail!

Yep, that's *just* the sort of thing our founding fathers wanted in a country!

/sarcasm

He was thrown into jail because the mall (private place) didn't want him on their property with low pants. He was told before not to do it and decided to go back and do it.

Oh, you must be reading a different story. This one had nothing to do with terrorism and people were being arrested for trespassing way before 9/11.

I have to say, Weaver, I didn't think I'd be around to see the day when your line of thinking would change as much as it has. You used to summarily dismiss posts like this one as the paranoid blatherings of partisan line-toers. I admire that you can still affect change in yourself and your way of thinking. It shows an evolved, rational grasp on the situation.

Fark 'em. Buy them a raft and float them back to Haiti. That way they won't continue to be racismed by the big mean cops.

gregormendel 2007-12-30 01:40:43 PM
The first dumbass was arrested for trespassing, not for having his pants too low. The other dumbasses were arrested for interfering. The mall, as a private entity, has a lwaful right to place people on trespass notice, and if that is violated, the offender risks arrest.

Everything else is just mindless whining by anti-authority losers.

The day the President of the United States told us he authorized the CIA to run secret prisons and that waterboarding wasn't torture is the day we stepped thru the looking glass.

Normally i wouldn't think this was a racial thing, but the combination of "Hatian" and "Wellington" is usually a bad mix. They don't like regular blacks there, let alone the ones who talk all funny.

I am gonna have to go with Weaver on this one, guys. I really don't think it had to go to the lengths it reached to get one guy to vacate the premises, however many relatives the guy had with him.

Yup, that is exactly what happened here. Florida malls are behind a huge conspiracy and working with the police to ensure all Americans look and act the same by the year 2010.

Weaver95: I can't remember 20 deputies and a chopper showing up to get ONE guy for tresspassing back before 9/11.

When did this ever happen? I thought the police sent all those others there because a family of 6 were resisting arrest. I didn't realize they were all there in response to the kid with the low pants. Can you please cite where it says all those police showed up just to deal with this kid?
