How does one pick the wrong house to steal from?

Cluster_1: How does one pick the wrong house to steal from?

It's funny - I was thinking a similar queston; "is there ever a wrong house to steal from?"

The one with the resident who believes in protecting his family.

I had someone open my unlocked car, take out the CD/Radio player, take out the system and lock the door.

Still hate the word "burglarized"

Quite the contrary. This makes it the wrong house to get CAUGHT stealing from... but quite possibly makes it among the best of houses to steal things from.

And for the record... Remember, you're not protecting your family if your means of protection is locked away safely in your bedroom while you're way over in the family room. Keep your protection with you at all times. (also, if it's with you at all times, you never have to worry about it being found by somebody else)

Don't forget to keep it loaded with the safety off in case elite Russian storm troopers bust through your skylight and you only have a split second to react.

Oddly enough, mine is on my belt, and IS loaded, and it doesn't even HAVE a safety. It's double action only with a protected/internal hammer, so it doesn't need one. The only way it will ever go bang is if I pull on the trigger, the same as all modern pistols.

And if you think only the red commies are all we have to worry about, you obviously haven't met many meth-heads in need of a fix.

Seriously though, if a gun is unloaded, locked up, and in a different part of the house, it will be pretty hard to use in most circumstances. In fact, my aunt walked outside to get the mail or something one day and saw somebody breaking in to her neighbor's house. She asked who he was and he reached around for a pistol. She's a quickdraw and had him lined up before he he could train his sights on her. He dropped the rest of the stuff he was stealing and lit out like... well like somebody had a gun pointed at him.

Does your family home resemble this?

Nah. The pistols in your pic aren't made to be carried concealed. Ours are. I could often wander around in shorts and a tight tshirt and you'd never know nobody ever knows I was am carrying.

As for the house, well, it's just a standard middle class Detroit suburban house. The aunt in the tale is from North Carolina though. That's where her story happened

Yes. The house with the betamax.

How do you manage that? I generally carry a Glock 19 concealed, but I need loose clothing.

Thin pistols with single stack mags. You lose some ammo capacity, but it's not a bad trade-off for a pistol well under 1 inch thick.
Think Kel-Tec. Inexpensive, American-made, lifetime warranty.

PS, This has nothing to do with kel-tec, but I'd rather rely on a nickel plated sissy pistol than a glock...

No, no, no. It wasn't the burglar who was in the wrong house. It was the residents. A better choice would have been a house destined to be burglarized. They could have avoided this if they'd just done some investigating when they were considering the place. You cannot trust a realtor to mention these things.

I was going to write some snarky anti-gun comment, but then I figured you'll probably need it...
/What the heck happened to Detroit?

When someone tried to crawl through my window (which I had mistakenly left unlocked after airing the apartment out), he was met by a naked guy with a gun pointed at him. "Uh, oh, sorry, uh, wrong apartment." He backed out (wasn't done crawling in) and left.

After that, I think I might need to get a real gun. While this BB gun is fairly convincing, at least at low light levels, it would be good to have something that works in case threats don't. Yay castle doctrine.

I hope you had an erection during this encounter (say, you were busy yanking it when you heard noises). It would make the story more awesome. Having a gun pointed at you while you're attempting to break into a house is embarrassing. Having a gun pointed at you by a man with a stiffy is the end of the world. He'd have to kill himself right there, or he'd never be able to look at himself in the mirror.

I'm not sure why this even entered my mind (or why I'm telling anyone). I should probably schedule another appointment with my therapist.

If you guys had strict gun laws like us limeys, you could just use a golf club like I did 3 years ago. I went off in a police car(not charged) he went off to hospital.

1-0.

Absolutely... and as cheap as time machines are getting, they could always travel to a few years down the road and look up police reports for that house. Damn realtors don't even bother to do basic research these days, so folks have to check it out for themselves.

/selling time machine, mine's only $5mil.
