Those tactics backfire, said Warren Tompkins, a political consultant who ran George Bush's 2000 campaign in South Carolina and now is Romney's top consultant in the state. "Anything this outrageous and childish and nonsensical would have a significant fallout on whoever did it and on whose behalf it was done," Tompkins said.

FTFA: The card also cites a passage on Mary's virgin birth that underscores her race. "And it came to pass that I looked and beheld the great city of Jerusalem, and also other cities. And I beheld the city of Nazareth; and in the city of Nazareth I beheld a virgin, and she was exceedingly fair and white." On the card, "fair and white" are in a bolder, larger font and on a separate line.

Wasn't Mary, you know, a towelhead? A sand-nubianr? One of the brown people that America is enthusiastically killing in the Middle East?

A friend of mine got an email forward from a baptist family member of his about Barack Obama. Apparently Barry is secretly a muslim and for some reason it is really important that his parents were different races.

Sadly, while we laughed at the email (the propaganda was so thick it felt like satire almost) we were morosely aware that the baptists probably were completely sold on the idea that they shouldn't vote Obama.

First off, he's God.

He doesn't need a wife.

fark, he doesn't even need a girlfriend.

He can turn down a threesome with two really hot pagan hussies, say Venus and one of those hot Vedic chicks, you know, the ones with the thin gold chain belts and big boobs. He could say no to that and somehow get "cooler".

In fact, when interviewing for "God" I believe "multiple wives" scared about half the decent gods off the job.

Sure, Kali, but heck, she's a lesbian. Camazotz? Yeah, he was in it for the food.

As for Mary? I'm pretty sure she was Jewish.

Oh, and Mitt Romney is clearly a douchebag. From space.

Was Tompkins the one behind the racist McCain push polling in South Carolina in 2000? That didn't seem to backfire for the Bush campaign.

Actually, I believe that particular gem was attributed to Karl Rove.

It is nice to live in a country where a woman and a black man have a very good chance of winning the presidency. But what is really amusing is that Romney's religion is more of a head-turner/turn-off.

Here's a rather well done description on what the Mormons believe, written by someone who "studied his way out" of the religion."

That said, while I am not a Mormon, I have known several and can say that while I find their beliefs to be a bit bizarre, they honestly do practice what they preach, most work diligently to live up to their very high standards, they are a very family oriented religion and when Katrina hit, they were there, in force, delivering help.

On the downside, they are a religion that almost demands unquestioning faith, they do not tolerate any free thought and in many ways there is a disconnect between what they claim to believe and what they do.

Here is another excellent resource if you would like to learn more about the Mormons.

Funny how, especially this Primary season, the white conservative evangelical Christians are the ones who mock the religious beliefs of anyone who believes anything different than, say Huckabee does.

Funny, did you know that Obama was a Muslim? No, neither did he,

As an atheist myself, I'd love it. Of course, as a member of the most openly hated minority in the US, he or she would have no chance of being elected.

And yes, I did know that about Hatch. He's one senator in the minority party, so there's little reason he'd be in the news much. The Senate Majority Leader is another matter.

I read a study a while back that shows Democrats are less likely to be intolerant towards Mormons that Republicans.

Some Democrats play the "You have to be stupid to believe in anything, especially Mormonism" card, and won't vote for Mormon politicians.

But more Republicans play the "As an evangelical Protestant, Mormons are the cult of Satan." card. So they won't vote for such an individual.

*snicker*
1. Google "Mormon Conspiracy"
2. I'm Feeling Lucky http://www.mormonconspiracy.com/
a small excerpt of which follows.

* Few foreign citizens are aware that the Mormon Church is not predominantly "The American Church," but only a minority church. It is not a mainstream American church, nor does the Mormon "American church uphold the American democratic ideals that many foreigners admire. Instead of American democratic ideals, the Mormon Church is governed by a monarchical style of administration, in which the head of the church, the "President," assisted by apostles and other General Authorities, makes all appointments and decisions of the church. The President of the church is not elected by church members, but assumes power strictly by seniority as the oldest apostle (in seniority as an apostle).

* The Mormon Church authorities have no right to allege to citizens of foreign countries that the Mormon Church is an American church which typifies American culture and beliefs.

* Mormon women are taught that men, through the power of the priesthood, also provide the path for them to communicate with God. Men, who are the priesthood holders, according to doctrine, have mystical powers (not given to women) to heal the sick and to remove evil spirits from them. Men have the authority in the home and generally lead all prayer there, lead all church services and others such as funerals, weddings, etc.

Ahh, Karl Rove strikes again. He looooooooves spreading lies in South Carolina. He's the one who did all the push polling there in 2000, telling people about McCain's "illegitimate black baby."

For all the BS Democrats spew, they never spread messages of hate like Republicans.

FTFA:
"It is sad and unfortunate that this kind of deception and trickery has been employed," said Will Holley, Romney's South Carolina spokesman. "There is absolutely no place for it in American politics."

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

bubbaprog: For all the BS Democrats spew, they never spread messages of hate like Republicans.

It's not like they wouldn't if it benefited them. It's just that Democrats tend to be more skeptical of electoral BS than the typical Republicans who crave someone or something to hate, fear, and/or attack. Choose one: government, taxes, France, people of other faiths, or darkies.

AgentOrangeDrink, I find no Mormon belief any crazier than turning water into wine, or walking on water, or talking bushes, or flaming sky chariots, or virgin births, or any other amazing thing that supposedly happened so very long ago when we didn't have video tape.
