Say what you will about Jonah Goldberg, he's perfected the bemused, aww-shucks, I'm-just-a-moderate-at-heart smokescreen that so many partisan shills (and many of my least favorite Fark posters) use to cover their true authoritarian, quasi-sociopathic leanings. And his fans eat that shait up.

I think people like him are infinitely more damaging to political discourse in this country than people like Michael Savage or Ted Rall. Not many people take them seriously, and the one's that do are too far gone to deal with on a basic human level anyway. But people like Goldberg have made an art out of advocating disturbingly cynical and antisocial ideas while at the same time couching it in so-called "respectable" dialogue.

It's like his whole career has been leading up to this book. Now he can finally throw loose those fake shackles and come clean about the fact that he's actively invested in turning the citizens of this country against one another for the purpose of political gain.
