I believe you're thinking of bacteria. The body if full of, and covered by, billions of bacteria, and many of them are useful. Parasites on the other hand just feed off of hosts without giving anything back.

If TFA said "Doctor" or "hospital" instead of "health practitioner", that might have given the article believability instead of laughability.
