FTA: The area that will by completely inundated by the rising ocean-and not in a century but in the lifetime of my two cats-are the American southeast, including the most populated area of Texas, almost all of Florida, most of Louisiana, and half of Alabama and Mississippi, as well as goodly portions of eastern Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

That sucks. I got at least one net friend in Louisiana. She's on a mission to spay every feral female feline she can get her hands on, simply to get the local cat population under control and stop the hordes of starving kittens.

I guess he forgot to think about how the left thrives on the coastlines. Or the fact that people can move to another part of the country over the course of 50 years.

Yes, because all the conservatives in low-lying areas will just remain on their knees praying until they drown.

They'll be moving somewhere else and will still vote Republican.

Even if he hadn't told us, I would have known that this moonbat owns friggin' cats. You see his kind all the time; underappreciated, 'I told you so' types waiting for the day when the world beats a path to their door with a heart shaped box of chocolates that says, 'I'm sorry' on it. How much do you want to bet that he cries himself to sleep on a regular basis?

The sad thing is that these "right wingers" who have taken over the republican party -really aren't conservative at all. They occasionally give lip-service to certain ideals -but for the most part they are hypocritical liars.

Ah fark it. I'm building an Ark.

When the Neo-conservative swaths of the American heartland are left arid and the coastal lands are flooded, the remaining overpopulated urban wastelands will be uninhabitable. Fuel shortages coupled with starvation will pretty much put an end to partisan bickering once and for all.

/A controlled onset of nuclear winter would solve the immediate climate crisis.
//More ice would trap more CO2 and deflect more sunlight creating more ice deflecting more sunlight until we're under a giant block of ice miles deep and I'm perfectly ok with that.

I_Approve_Of_This_Message 2007-12-27 03:20:01 PM
The Republican party will be marginalized to a third party by the end of the next decade, but it will be due more to the fact that people continue to move out of rural areas and into the cities. Urbanization tends to lead to liberalization, as people become less concerned about 1) People staying off their lawn, and 2) Not being around people who aren't just like them.

Coinciding with this will be a split in the Democratic party between progressives and moderates (probably over states' rights, big shocker), resulting in a continuation of the two-party system.

The slight shift to the left is simply inevitable. If you think that it can be stopped, you are simply wrong.

Becuase one crazy guy disproves ACC.

Here's the difference--I can actually understand why many true conservatives hold on to their views despite their embarassment at having to share the same idealogical tent with morons like yourself.

Milkbeer:

Frankly, I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

Also in news,
- The only people who conserve energy don't conserve energy because it's a good way to save money, its because they're turning into democrats.

Huh? What's wrong with saving money, and being friendly to the environment, and still balancing what's feasible with what is too costly. Of course, not using PCBs in certain sectors, getting off of CFCs, having health and safety standards, were also far too costly, and yet we managed. We'll get over it. Conservative can also mean wanting to save what you have in more senses than money and religion, no?

- As soon as Bush leaves office, the icebergs will stop melting and the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere will decrease significantly

Huh? Did anyone actually say this?

- All career climatologists who feel global warming is an exaduration intended to advance a greater socialist energy agenda should be re-educated by the Democrat Party.

Other than the slur above, what does that mean? Assuming you meant "exaggeration" or you're just being cute have you ever bothered to look at summaries of studies. Just the high level stuff. A lot of the stuff we see is "worst case scenario" and fear mongering might be applicable to describe the rhetoric of the politicos and "journalists." The opposite can be said for the Shell/Mobile/BP bought studies that attempt Jedi mind tricks and say that this "isn't the AGCC you're looking for."

No room for middle ground huh? No room for the grey area? That's why you have all this as black and white coverage, fear mongering or glossing over, because darned if it's not something in the middle. Even the middle ground isn't all peaches and roses. Oh, and localized ice storms say that AGCC isn't real, I forgot.

- Al Gore receives honorary PHD in Climatology from Harvard, Yale, MIT and Duvry.

Huh? What does that have to do with anything? You do realize that Algor got the Noble with the team of UN scientists that have written up a consensus based paper on AGCC, meaning it's as close to middle ground coming, not too sweet, not too tart, out of the scientific community. You do realize that Bush and the Bush Administration has accepted "Global Warning" as a real issue now, if not to the degree that most of the rest of the world does.

No, I forget, Algor and the UN are boogey men. All you have to do to discredit either is yell "super serial" and "manbearpig" and "oil for food" which automatically makes everything black and white again, and nothing that come out of either one is worth the least bit of debate. It's Algor and the UN after all, and nothing good can or will come from either of them.

- Republicans who listen to teh Democrat career climatologists are get smarter.

Huh? Is this more of the "Ivory Tower Liberal" conspiracy stuff? Where the liberals (Democrats) are steering this all in some vain hope of achieving socialism, somehow, or ruining capitalism, somehow.

It's easy for blind hatred of those vile ivory tower liberals, and the conspiracy they foment, to easily, and offhandedly, ignore everything. After all, lots of people were without power because of an ice storm, and that's incontravertable proof that AGCC is not only false, but proof positive that human can't impact anything on a global scale and even if we did we couldn't possibly do anything about it because it'd be too expensive or too little, too late or nothing that we could do would offset what the third world is doing, ignoring, of course, acid rain, river damning, pollution on the scale that most India and Asian rivers are toxic by the time they reach the ocean, not that most of ours are any great shakes, etc., etc.

So easy to just cover your ears and go "LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa" than it is to admit that living the lives we do, here, tends to be wasteful and unfriendly to just about every facet of our lives.

So much easier to say we should do nothing because of cost, when likely it will create more jobs, and eventually be cost effective for third world nations to use cleaner power from anything we'd come up with then the continued competition for deminishing, finite and damaging resources.

It's far easier to be myopic than it is to have any forsight.

So, ignore AGCC completely, don't bother to look at the optimistic vs. pessimistic possible outcomes of the science, it's far easier to say it's all some hoax by the libtard Democrat (sic) Party.

Mosey 2007-12-27 05:52:15 PM
The Republican party will be marginalized to a third party by the end of the next decade, but it will be due more to the fact that people continue to move out of rural areas and into the cities.

Didn't I just read that the fastest growing states are Nevada, Arizona, Wyoming, Idaho and Utah?

And the only two to lose population are Michigan and Ohio?

I know "fastest growing" means one thing when you are in Wyoming and NYC is not getting smaller, however, it seems the trend is to move rural, not city. "Rural" doesn't mean farms any more, it means not top 20 cities in population.

Poopspasm [TotalFark] 2007-12-27 06:16:36 PM
Mosey: "Rural" doesn't mean farms any more, it means not top 20 cities in population.

I think the sentiment is that those who live around other people tend to be more accepting of practices that their rural counterparts probably find bizarre. So as those states grow (and more people live in closer proximity to one another), many areas within them will cease to be "rural."

/Correct me if I'm wrong though

Of course, if you look at the actual predictions (the worst-case ones) from the folks who are most "mainstream" about Global Climate Spare Change (or whatever), the amount of sea level increase won't come anywhere near what guys like the author dream about.

Miami, for example, will lose several feet of beach. Probably. It won't be too much, and it won't be noticeable in a human lifetime (or two cats worth) unless you take before and after photos. If you put a human-sized statue at the high tide level, in 50 years or so the water would be about to its knees. Maybe.

Those scary "look how Florida will flood" maps we saw earlier this year used the pretty-much-impossible "several meters of sea level increase" you only see in bad leftist science and average Hollywood movies.
