There are few things I would like to see more than a debate with a "kill switch" phrase for each candidate... Any time they say it or by the judges determination mention the topic their microphone is shut off for 60 seconds. Some starter suggestions?

Gulliani : 9/11
Clinton : Her executive experience (as she actually has none)
Huckabee : God
Ron Paul : The IRS
McCain : Veteran (any war reference)

And force the candidates to actually address the topics and questions rather than running back to their respective "wheelhouses" for catch phrases and redirection of the topic.

9/11 = 0.818

Do I win a presidency?

i'd love to have candidates at a "yes or no" forum. barring, "have you stopped beating your wife" trap questions, i'd love to hear a politician answer "yes" or "no" to a question of import without equivocation.

it'll never happen.

the economy, Iraq and health care

First of all, there's nothing wrong with any of those things, they are all going Gloriously and in fact could only be improved upon by God himself or by another Republican.

That said, what possible value would it be to hear any candidate address one of those issues ? Does anyone really feel better when they're being lied to ?

One question which would prevent any candidate in their right mind from attending this debate:

Do you believe the government should make abortion a federal crime.

Well I have always believe that no news is good news when it come to national topics and the media corps. The less they are talking about it the better it must be doing. (boy does that sentence suck) I'm not a big believer in the great left wing media idea, more in the "if it bleeds it leads" media. Are most of them a bunch of lefties? Sure but I dont think they get together at the drum circle to figure out how best to screw with America. And you have to admit that the news corps have seen a huge drop in coverage of both Health Care and the War. The coverage on the economy is about the same. You can always get people to watch tv or read the paper if they think it could save them money.

On the topic of lying: The Republicans are not lying to you about pulling the troops out of Iraq. Only one I think has said that he would and I believe he would. Democrats on the other hand are lying though their teeth about the subject. They tell the crowd what they want to hear at that given time. I'm not saying that the Reps don't do that on other topics just not on this one.

60 seconds? Nah. The microphone should be shutoff until they down a shot of Everclear.

That's a really easy question to get out of. Any one that could not dodge that bullet does not need to be POTUS. In the yes or no debate you answer No. Now after it breaks down like this:

To the militant life movement: No, I think states should out law it.
To the normals out there: No, but in needs to "rare and safe"
To the pro choice people: Hey, I said no, vote for me!!!

In a yes or no debate you almost always say no. Then "clarify" it later with a press release.

Great idea. Now if we could just get Hillary the Dem and Ron Paul the Rep then we could sell this on pay-per-view. I know I would watch! Who I'm i kidding I would pay to see that without the Everclear.

not all candidates would fear that question. i know ron paul would answer it and i know what his answer would be...

While I agree it would be nice to have them answer straightforward questions, most of the issues facing our country are more complex and require a nuanced answer. We cannot afford even 4 more years of black or white, "you are either with us or the terrorists" thinking.

By a "nuanced" answer you mean we need them to answer questions more like John Kerry did. His "plans" were so nuanced you couldn't describe them in words.

Excellent idea.
They could be hooked up to a wire that gives them a shock if they answer with more than one word.

Q: "Are you in favor of a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage?"
A: "Marriage is an AmericaAARRGHHHGHH!!!"

"nuanced" as in "I have a plan here it is in detail" vs. "black and white" as in "you're either with us or against us."

I really don't know how to simplify that any more for you.

I honestly get the impression that this douche just thought that after 9/11 made him "America's Mayor", he would just waltz into the White House unopposed. He doesn't seem to give any actual reason why he should be President beyond "9/11".

It's not like he actually DID anything on 9/11

except stand around and go "We can't give up, we will not be beaten down..." and so on

which has got to be pretty easy as a millionaire who didn't actually lose anything or anybody.

He's gotta get over it, though.
He sounds like a broken record, a one-trick pony, a man with no other card to play.

I love how Rudy talks about how the terrorists are trying to take away our freedom but says nothing about how he will work to restore said freedoms the government has taken to make us more "secure". He makes at least 5 direct or indirect to 9/11 in under one minute. Thank the flying spaghetti monster (Huckabee and Romney is a farkin unelectable morons too) we won't have to hear from this farking dumbasshole after Feburary 5th or in any other presidential elections.
