Good stuff... I wasn't a big Dropkicks fan, but I really enjoyed the new album.

My favorite Finish folk metal band who sing in Swedish would have to be Finntroll

/elitist/obsucre music snobbery knows no limits

Finntroll is great... but I tend to prefer Ensiferum and Turisas...

Saw them live on St. Patrick's day

Loudest accoustic show I've ever seen

I concur. Saw them back in the day with McLogan as singer, they wailed. Love al barr in the bruisers too. I sound old when i say this but its true.

That sure was a whole lot of white people....

/a little redundant in their sound
//a good sound... but not taking alot of chances

Not bad. Didn't expect it to be as good as Shipping Up to Boston... but still... pretty good.

They're a great little band, but they sure do put on the worst live show I can recall, though it's not their fault. In the first half hour they were on stage a few months back in NYC, at least 10 to 15 people got dragged out by cops for being too drunk to stand, harassing women, stripping naked, starting fights, etc. One of those bands that's just miles smarter than their audience.

Must have hit a bad show.

The ones I've seen have been badass.

I'm not a huge fan of the genre, but I've seen Dropkick and a few others just to broaden my musical spectrum. I have found that the people who really enjoy this kind of music are Dropkick fans, and the people who tout Flogging Molly are just elitist douchebags who don't want to admit that Dropkick is really that good.

tweak23 2007-12-27 06:01:01 PM
The Murphys are good but I would never call them great. All celtic-punk is inherently formulaic (including the band I'm in where every damn song is either about boats, women or booze or a combination of all three).

If someone touts Flogging Molly, it's because they're better musicians. Not really any more original than Dropkick, though. Gimmee the Pogues any day of the week, and I will third (fourth) the feeling of Gogol being the where-it's-at of traditional music + rock and farkin' roll.

I was working merch a couple of winters ago at the factory, and worked a dropkick show. worst fans i have ever had to deal with. security pulled what seemed like 1/2 the 2nd level outside. all of those that were pulled were skinheads.

if these are the fans that dropkick pulls in, i don't want to hear the music.
