But it wasn't a Thai. It wasn't even a tie. It wasn't even close.

Subby reached too far for the pun. =/

Good pun, but no points awarded due to inappropriate use of Newsflash tag.

anyone else read that as erection rather than election? bangkok, and the stereotypical "r" supplanting a "l" in asian-english, threw me off...

whops. there's no 'g' in that... Chinlish (Chinese-English)

The primary definition of Engrish refers to "localized English in East Asia". Chinglish, Wasei-eigo (in Japan) and Konglish are parts of the whole Engrish domain.

Exit poll results show PPP wins

Suan Dusit Rajabhat University Exit Poll, As of 3 pm, 23 December 2007

How many constituency-based MPs and party-list MPs each party get

1. People Power Party, 221 + 35 = 256
2. Democrat Party, 127 + 35 = 162
3. Chart Thai Party, 24 + 5 = 29
4. Ruamjai Thai Chart Pattana, 14 + 1 = 15
5. Peua Paendin, 8 + 2 = 10
6. Pracharaj Party, 3 + 1 = 4
7. Matchima Thipataya Party, 3 + 1 = 4

PPP = the old Government before the Coup. Which means the democrats wont be happy and will now try to pick off the seats one by one by charging people with whatever. People were paid 200-500 baht ($10-18) to vote for whatever party. There really isn't any democracy here, both sides buy votes and when one side gets elected the other tries any means to get people ousted.

It is even rumored that if PPP won that the military government would cancel the election and have another one...

Cliffnotes:

More bullshiat for Thailand...

blackartemis: Exit poll results show PPP wins

Those were just projections, latest results on Bangkok Post are the PPP got 228 seats, the Democrats 166, Chart Thai 39, Puea Pandin 26, and the remaining smaller parties 21. I think. Someone needs 241 seats to form a government, so theoretically the Democrats could form a government if the PPP is unable to secure allies and they all join with the Dems. Which seems unlikely, but possible.

Gish21 2007-12-23 11:32:18 PM
Although if the PPP wins I won't mind too much, as their leader Samak is a lunatic and finally there will be a world leader more embarrassing than George Bush. At least he never responded to a female reporter who asked a tough question with "I have a question for you too, who did you fornicate with last night?"

Yes you are correct, in my haste I didn't read the full thread on a Thai forum. But it seems PPP is still on top, just not with the majority that I posted :/ Sorry >_

Big deal, last time I went to Bangkok I ended in a Thai, too.
