/And I'm here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away
It's not fair to deny me
Of the cross I bear that you gave to me
You, you, you oughta know

+1 for psycho chicks

When a story on Alanis come up, is it Obligatory Fark protocol to use the Ironic Tag and get Greenlit or something?

Alanis Morisette releasing first album in 4 years

So it's coming out just in time for xmas in 2011?

\and how could it be her "first"?

Flavors of Entanglement,' due next spring, explores singer's struggles

You mean a morisette album with lyrics totally focused on her personal thoughts and feelings and fears and joys and obsessions, set to introspective pop beats to the point you want to slap her rich, whiny ass into sanity?

I've never heard of such a thing

radioman_ 2007-12-23 01:25:38 PM
Will "My Humps" be on it?

As a 14 year old girl with the inability to discern between good and bad music, I am very excited over this.

The rest were CDs. She's going retro. Ironic for this day and age, don't you think?

Why is this on Fark? Is she naked in the liner notes or something?

Ebenator 2007-12-23 06:05:39 PM
Why won't she just go away?

Pretty loose definition of "album". I thought those were supposed to contain actual music.

/My lawn. Get off it.

startinaflamewar 2007-12-23 09:26:46 PM
Is she still doing the bj thing in the movie theater? I guess with home theaters being more popular these days she's doing doggie while watching a movie...at least hopes so.

chocoboat 2007-12-23 10:02:45 PM
I liked Alanis back when she made good songs, instead of shiatty poetry set to music that does nothing other than brag about her wide vocabulary.

In other words, the first CD was pretty good.

chocoboat 2007-12-23 10:06:19 PM
Actually I was just looking around on Youtube...

This is actually a pretty damn good music video. The song's OK but that's one of the most interesting videos I've seen in a long time.

/and no, it's not a Rickroll, it's called Eight Easy Steps

Anybody ever hear her 2 albums she put out in Canada before she put out Jagged Little Pill in the US?

/cringes

And the story here is..?

/would still hit it.

I have 'em both. It's like Debbie Gibson and Paula Abdul were lesbian lovers in Canada and decided to make two records together.

sunlion 2007-12-24 05:06:18 AM
I downloaded a live recording from circa 1996 or so, and was completely blown away by the music. Extremely good. I mean, good alongside artists like Hendrix, The Beatles, and Frank Zappa.

If it's not on a major label, I will definitely buy it (otherwise I will not, as I refuse to give money to the RIAA).

WhyteRaven74 [TotalFark] 2007-12-24 05:20:09 AM
Funny thing about Alanis, the drummer for her touring band was Tyler Hawkins, until David Grohl asked if he knew any drummers who could go on the road with the Foo Fighters. Can even see Tyler in the background of the video for You Oughta Know.

sunlion 2007-12-24 06:57:23 AM
I don't know if he is the drummer for the shows I downloaded... I'll have to take a look. I recall that the drummer was great, and he would do this double-cymbal thing that was really effective, but not being a drumkit drummer I wouldn't know how to describe it, but it sort of "widens" and blurs the moment, while the guitar cuts in clear and precise... weird and very kewl effect. Quite a band. I'll look into who they all were when I'm back home and can get the date.

So, according to TFA, she and Ryan Reynolds have broken up. When did that happen....?

//must initiate my plan...
